EXPEDITION REPORT for incidents on Spring 2024 MN trip
An organized multi-day expedition with 18 participants was conducted in a heavily forested area with swamps and rivers. Nearly all participants reportedly heard or saw activity attributed to bigfoots, described as more than expected. Multi-witness daylight sighting 3.5 miles SE of Sixmile Lake (Leech Lake Reservation)
Two relatives driving slowly while hunting for grouse were alerted to a large dark figure in a grassy ditch beside a side road. They backed up and watched the upper body of the tall, long-armed figure move slowly upright into the woods. At the site they noticed a strong foul odor and minor ground disturbance but no clear footprints on packed gravel. Later the same day a game warden told them that spot was known for similar reports.
Tell-tale sounds heard in Jay Cooke State Park
The witness was camping alone overnight in the campground. Around 3:30 a.m. the witness heard three deep loud vocalizations followed by a tree-knock sound. Afterward the witness found a partial handprint on the car door in a spot not normally touched.
Scream in Minnesota (2022)
The same night after the field encounter the witness returned to his nearly empty house. He heard knocking and banging on the house, found his previously locked sliding glass door cracked open, then heard the same scream echoing inside for an extended period. He barricaded himself in the bedroom overnight and found the door closed with no trace in the morning.
Sasquatch sighting in Minnesota (2022)
The witness was plowing an isolated field while on the phone with his sister when he saw a large dark shape in the corn. He walked from the tractor toward it while filming, watched it stand bipedally well above the 7-8 foot corn, heard a loud rattling scream, was charged and chased back to the tractor, then watched it run back into the corn. He kept video of the distant figure and finished the field before leaving.
Sasquatch sighting by motorist 5 miles west of Ely
The witness was driving westbound on a highway with family in the van when she saw a fur-covered bipedal figure very close to the road. The figure walked parallel to the highway and crossed a side road from ditch to ditch in a few seconds. She described long grey to brown wire-like hair and estimated its height around six feet. Family members in the vehicle did not see it, and she kept driving without turning back.
Daytime road crossing on MN-73 near the town of Cook
The witness was driving on Highway 73 in the early afternoon when he saw a large brown animal squatting by the roadside. As he approached, it stood bipedally and crossed the highway in three steps into a swampy area. He stopped and found patted-down grass where it had been but no distinct prints due to wet ground, and noted a strong rancid odor at the site.
Footsteps in Minnesota (2018)
Three hunters were sitting around a campfire at a remote deer camp when they saw two amber lights in the woods where grouse carcasses had been discarded. After the lights went out and all animal sounds stopped, they heard bipedal footsteps approach, then throat-like gibberish speech behind camp and a large tree crack and fall nearby. Two distinct running departures were heard, and the next morning they found the fallen dead tree.
Nighttime sighting by a motorist near the city of Rice
About a month before the report, the witness was driving home at night when his headlights caught a tall bipedal figure crossing the two-lane highway ahead. The lower legs and large feet were clearly lit while the upper torso was more shadowed, described as about 7.5 to 8 feet tall, about 3 feet wide, with long black matted hair and long arms swinging as it walked. The figure crossed from east to west in four steps, traveling between a wooded area and the river area.
Strange incident while taking photos in the Lost Forty SNA
The witness was alone photographing old pines around noon when loud banging and knocking began after a car horn sounded. About 15 minutes later a large birch about 20 to 30 feet away was heard cracking, seen bending down and then springing back upright. The witness did not see any creature, feared an animal larger than a bear, ran back to the car, and inferred something had been in the tree watching.

While hiking alone in the morning near the river where the earlier sighting occurred, the witness found a single large bare footprint much larger than his own boot. About twenty feet away he found two green trees of substantial size twisted and snapped off near ground level. He theorized the deep single print was a push-off foot before jumping into a nearby dry ravine.
Hunter scouting locations has a possible encounter near Buhl
The witness was walking north on an old railroad track through swamp while hunting when howls from the woods paralleled the movement. About a half mile ahead a large black figure was seen in the road, initially thought to be a bear. As the witness closed to about 100 yards the figure stood upright on two legs, moved into a ditch and tall grass, pausing to sway and look back toward the road while howling continued, before leaving into the swamp. Feeling nervous and sensing another presence behind, the witness left the area.
Family experiences possible activity outside their home near Bemidji
The son wandered a short distance into the woods while helping with yard work and saw a large dark figure with its back turned. The figure turned to face him for several seconds, showing a hairless gray-brown face on a black-haired body with no visible neck and the head set low and forward. The son ran back to his mother and when they looked again the figure was gone.
Possible daytime sighting on a golf course in Northern MN
Early one morning the witness was talking with a coworker at a golf course bordering woods when he noticed a tall bipedal figure moving through dense brush parallel to a paved path. The figure, described as lanky and uniformly reddish-tan, walked with a long easy stride and covered ground quickly without running. After about 20 seconds it passed behind a small bathroom building and did not reappear on the other side. The coworker, who was facing away from the woods, did not see it.
Biped sighted crossing road at night near Lake Bemidji
The witness was riding as a passenger while driving south toward town at night when an upright figure crossed the two-lane road in the headlights of their car and an oncoming car. The witness saw only the upper body and pumping arms as it crossed the road in about two and a half strides and then disappeared. The driver also saw something but was unsure what it was.
Possible encounter makes campers leave Lake Jeanette campground near Orr
The witness and a companion camped for two nights beside a lake in pine forest. On both nights they exchanged wood knocks with unseen sources and heard a whoop, and something large walked past their tent. On the second night they watched red eyes near camp, then heard a very close loud grunt and packed up and left feeling unwelcome.
Possible daybreak sighting by a motorist in farm country north of Badger
Before dawn the witness was driving slowly on an icy highway when headlights revealed a dark upright figure paused in the ditch. The figure then ran bipedally across the road in a few very long strides and disappeared into woods near a vacant farm. The witness described it as tall, bulky and black with long arms and immediately called the spouse. A later daytime check of the site found no tracks.
Cabin owner discovers possible footprint trail across lake and onto property near Bigfork
A companion of the reporter photographed a long line of large footprints in deep snow. The trackway was reported to run about a half mile from across a lake, ashore around a cabin and through woods to a road where it disappeared. Individual prints were described as very large with clearly visible toe indentations.
Canoers report a rock throw and possible grunts near Grand Marais
Two people were canoeing at night when a rock landed very close to them in the water though the distant shore appeared desolate. A short time later their canoe became grounded in a shallow channel between lakes and they heard a loud strange animal-like noise for about ten minutes that stayed just beyond flashlight range while surrounding wildlife went quiet. They freed the canoe and returned to the car for the night.
Daytime sighting by a hunter visiting his bait station near the town of Virginia
The witness drove to a bear bait station in the early morning and paused at a trail fork. A large gray-white creature crossed the trail about 50-60 yards away and continued through brush toward the bait site, with loud bipedal footsteps heard for several seconds. The witness left immediately and later returned with a companion only to retrieve a posted sign.
