In fall 2000 the wife reportedly saw a large dark figure walk across a field about 300 yards from home and into woods bordering a lake. The brief 3-5 second view was described as taller than five feet based on fence posts, stocky with very large shoulders, dark brown to black hair, and walking on two legs, causing an initial bear impression to be dismissed. The account was submitted by her husband along with later family experiences in the same wooded swamp-lake area.

In early August 1995, a couple fishing at a neighbor's pond near Addison found large footprints, hair-like material and disturbed vegetation. A couple hiking down a mountain road at dusk heard a large unseen presence moving through the woods beside the road. The sounds matched their movements, stopping when they stopped, and continued alongside them for an hour or more as they descended. They spoke loudly to try to scare it away and judged from the loud crunching steps that it was very large and not a deer.

The witness and his son reportedly watched a dark animal from about three-tenths of a mile away in a flat river-bottom area. They observed it walk several hundred feet along the river bank before it went out of sight around a bend. The daylight sighting occurred in late spring during very dry conditions, and nearby railroad workers could not see the animal because a hedgerow blocked their view.

The sound appeared to move rapidly away, shifting from nearby to much farther within seconds while crashing through brush. Frightened despite being accustomed to the dark, the pair left without seeing the source and returned to their truck.
