On two consecutive nights he heard loud rapid tree knocks followed by prolonged crashing, pacing and movement around his tent. On the second night the activity escalated and he heard powerful lion-like roars and screams from about 50 feet away that left him terrified. In the morning he found a large human-like footprint about 15 inches long near his kayak and left the area.

The figure turned and crossed the two-lane highway in three steps and disappeared on the right. He slowed, confirmed there were no mailboxes or people nearby, later revisited the spot and estimated the figure at about seven and a half feet with bright brown hair and a runner's build.
