Two companions were quietly floating in a canoe on a dark creek at night when they startled something standing at the creek edge. They heard heavy bipedal footsteps exiting the water, displacing water and making waves, then moving onto the bank. A large rock then splashed into the creek very close to the canoe, after which the subject walked uphill into the woods. The witnesses stayed silent out of fear and never saw the subject because of darkness.
Late night Winter sighting by pedestrian along W. Nifong Blvd. in Columbia
The witness was walking along a roadside in Columbia, Missouri around 1:30 a.m. when a large bipedal creature paralleled him from behind a tree line. He stopped to face it and described a tall dark-haired figure with a cone-shaped head that emitted a low growl. After he looked away and kept walking, the creature followed briefly then disappeared.

The couple were night fishing from boat docks around midnight when rocks began splashing into the water on both sides of the cove. Two unseen sources on opposite banks threw large rocks and produced deep growls, screams, and howls in unison for an extended period while the couple remained on the dock. They eventually left the dock for their cabin and continued to hear the sounds from the overlook.

The witness was asleep at home and was awakened in the middle of the night by her rabbit's kennel being rattled on the front porch. From bed she saw a large dark hairy figure standing off the porch and looking in the window for an extended stare. Her dogs remained silent and still, and the figure left when she tried to wake her husband, who saw nothing.

The witness was driving at night near Monkey Mountain when a tall, very thin creature crossed the road in front of the vehicle in about three unhurried strides. The creature came from a steep hillside heading toward river areas and did not appear to notice the vehicle. It was described as about seven feet tall with sparse, long grayish hair, leaning forward as it walked.

The witness and his brother were camping overnight near a river when they heard a loud growl-scream-whistle sound from about 30 feet away in the woods. They quickly lit a campfire and remained at the site for four nights total. They later asked rangers about the sound and checked local animal sounds at home without finding a match.

The witness was driving on Highway 32 at dusk when she noticed a small dark-haired animal at the roadside eating from a trash bag in the ditch. After a few steps they saw a very tall, broad figure that stopped and looked toward them, which startled them so they ran back inside the house. Soon after they heard banging sounds described like rocks being thrown at the house, but found no one outside when they checked.

The witness was sitting on the front porch of a relative's trailer with a young child on a sunny mid-afternoon when a 4- to 6-foot bipedal figure covered in long white hair walked through the adjoining field into the yard. The figure walked past a short decorative fence, looked toward the witness and met her gaze, then continued around a garage out of sight during about five minutes of observation. A dog on the porch barked timidly throughout but the figure showed no reaction or aggression.

The witness had gone to bed in his hunting cabin late Friday night when the forest went quiet and then heard a very loud scream from the southwest answered from the southeast. The exchange repeated four times with answering wood-on-tree bangs between the second and third calls, with the nearer sounds appearing to move farther southeast before all sounds stopped and normal night sounds resumed minutes later.

The witness went outside at night after dogs began barking and heard what sounded like bipedal footsteps in the woods behind the house. The footsteps approached after the witness called out, and a normally fearless dog retreated from the treeline. The witness inferred the source was very tall from the interval between steps and fired two shots into the ground, after which the footsteps calmly receded.

The animal stood to about seven feet, showed raised hair that settled after he holstered the weapon, and fixated on the yellow towel around his neck, which he tossed toward it before backing away. Turning, he faced a much larger second individual about ten feet away and fainted, waking minutes later to find both gone, the towel missing, and a folded leaf with grubs inside his cap.

The witness and a companion were sitting at their campsite campfire at night when they heard loud canine-like howl and whoop calls from multiple directions, approaching to within about 35 yards. The calls were described as deeper and louder than coyote or wolf, followed by fast gutteral sounds likened to a language or argument between two animals. The pair ruled out known animals and a human prank after hearing a second matching voice upstream. The vocal exchange lasted about five to seven minutes before the animals appeared to move away upstream over a bluff.
