Elk hunter observes an apparent family group
The witness was archery hunting with a group near Elk Valley and walked into a clearing expected to lead to ponds. From about 100 yards away the witness saw three erect dark-brown figures walking quickly in height order toward timber, with the leader gesturing for the smallest to hurry. The figures disappeared into the timber, and the witness did not investigate but later learned a companion nearby had seen the same thing.
Tracks in Idaho (1982)
The witness was on his first elk hunt as a teenager with a school friend's family in north-central Idaho. While walking a dusty logging road with an older hunter, he noticed bare human-like footprints in the dust. The older hunter quickly dismissed them and the witness felt it was best not to mention them again.

In August 1981 the witness rode a motorcycle up forest roads to a high peak near the North Fork. The witness was camping with other groups and took a nighttime walk on a dirt road after being unable to sleep. About 200 yards from camp a large grey entity emerged from the roadside 10-15 feet ahead, turned to face the witness, and they made eye contact for a few seconds. Both turned away, the witness ran back to camp and kept watch, with no further appearance.

Two companions fishing at a mountain lake got off the trail in thick brush on a very dark stormy night and noticed bright green eyes watching them from well above ground level. The figure with the eyes followed them to the lakeshore and then to their truck, staying in the trees and staring without sound or movement even when they charged toward it yelling. They backed away slowly, freed their stuck truck, and drove home, telling no one for years.

A group of six scouts hiking toward a third lake on a midday break claimed an encounter with a biped. Three of the group saw a tall, broad, brownish-haired biped cross the trail from left to right about 75 feet ahead in one to two seconds. The three were shaken and described the same appearance to the other three, who had been engaged in sign conversation and had not seen it. The group approached the crossing site by a small meadow but found nothing further.

The witness estimated the figure was at least 8 to 9 feet tall and crossed at least 150 yards in 20 seconds at a leisurely pace. The coworkers thought it was a man in dark clothing, but the witness disagreed. A later visit to the clearing found no tracks because the ground was too grassy.

During a morning hunting drive, the witness sat on a steep slope and watched a tall, lanky figure cross the opposite hillside for about a minute through a riflescope. The figure moved quickly with long strides and traversed steep terrain easily, appearing larger than a relative who later crossed lower on the same slope. The witness first thought it was a companion but later learned no companion matched the location or clothing.

A couple days later in the same Idaho hunt, the group drove before dawn in snow and watched a dark stump-like shape widen and slide slowly across the road out of headlight range. Later that day they found giant five-toed tracks circling their parked vehicle, and the passenger who checked the roadside with a flashlight claimed it was a hooded hunter on horseback.

The witness was on a week-long deer hunt with family and others in Idaho. From a rock vantage point he watched a large black animal move on all fours across an opposite slope through his rifle scope. When it reached a flat spot it stood upright, turned with long arms, and walked bipedally to the treeline, and his father in orange nearby looked half its size.

The witness was waiting with his son and daughter when their dog became agitated and stared uphill. They walked down the road and up toward old stumps where a short yellow-haired individual kept stumps between itself and them. At about eight feet under fallen logs it hissed and swatted at the dog while the daughter ran downhill, and the witness did not crawl under to look closer.

The witness was elk hunting on horseback in the Idaho wilderness with a companion when their horses became unmanageable near a ridgetop. They discovered very large fresh human-like footprints in snow that did not look like bear tracks. After moving away, they learned that two hunters camped in the next valley had abandoned camp after reporting a screaming animal throwing logs and destroying their camp.

The witness was resting in front of a house when they noticed a creature near the top of a ridge across a river. The creature covered the last stretch to the ridgeline in a few strides, then faced the witness with hands on hips for several seconds before walking down the far side with a swaying gait. The witness ran inside to get a scoped gun for observation, but relatives present did not believe the account.
Mountain goat hunters have encounter with 8'-9' tall biped
In late August 1973, two companions setting up a hunting camp at night heard loud screams, whistles, and brush thrashing around them and retreated into their truck cab. The witness then shone a spotlight toward the sounds and saw an erect, dark brown-to-black biped move rapidly up a steep rock slide on two legs. The witness later felt the animal had no intent to harm them.

In 1972 the father was hunting on a trail with the mother when he saw a large black hair-covered creature standing behind a small tree staring at him through his rifle scope. He watched it motionless for about a minute and a half before it disappeared from view, then left the area with the mother without telling her at the time. The father reportedly quit hunting and other outdoor activities afterward and rarely discussed the incident.
