While hiking in the mountains outside Denver the witness came across a track line with large, medium and small bare footprints going in and out of the area. He interpreted the different sizes as a group. No creature was seen.

The witness lived for two to three months in a rock overhang above a canyon stream, fishing with traps and hunting small game. A large hairy creature repeatedly raided his fish traps, exchanged rock throws, accepted camp bread, used a larger trap left for it and took deer remains. After an ice storm the witness developed severe pneumonia with high fever and could not tend his fire. He reported the creature looking in on him, leaving meat, a headless rabbit and herbs he boiled, then carrying him down the canyon over hours or days until a couple in a converted school bus found him and got him to a hospital.

The witness spent a few days watching from a hill while the wind kept his scent away. He watched adult females keep young in trees, lay with babies, coo, pet them and release a sweet spiced-honey-like scent. When a distant holler sounded the group got up and moved away.

While he tapped a stick on a boulder, they heard heavy footsteps nearby followed by loud rock clacks from the ridge. One night the witness heard several deep mumbling syllables directly outside the bedroom window that felt like a very large voice. During a week-long visit home, the witness showed the mother eyeshine low over a grassy hauler. On separate trips to a car at night the witness twice heard a deep rattling pig-like squeal from the same area. No pigs or hog farms were known in the area.

A large broad outline with widely spaced eyeshine stood by a trailer, moving jerkily before standing upright to face the truck then ducking away. Two campers sleeping in a vehicle at a closed campsite on an island were overcome by a sense of being watched and unnatural quiet. A large powerful being with broad shoulders appeared very close to the vehicle, prompting fear that it could reach inside. One camper shouted and the figure left.

While camouflaged in a tree in a dense cedar swamp, the guest heard what sounded like a group of people strolling and conversing at a distance, though no words could be distinguished. The location seemed unsuitable for casual walkers. He could not determine what produced the sounds.

Several years earlier the guest and a group of friends gathered for a nighttime bonfire on a high sandy riverbank. After hearing movement across the river, some in the group threw rocks, one producing a hollow thud, and something large charged across the water up the bank. The group scattered, and the guest helped carry a pregnant companion to a vehicle while the pursuer stopped close behind.

While squirrel hunting alone in a dark river-bottom woods with a small rifle, the guest noticed unnatural silence and a growing sense of being watched. He caught brief dark movement from two directions that seemed to maneuver around him. He backed out for over 300 yards without turning his back and never returned to that section.

On the same farm the guest repeatedly found the chicken house inner and outer doors opened and some birds missing despite remembering closing them. The incidents stopped after he began locking a padlock. He inferred whatever opened the doors must have had fingers and a thumb.

After several seconds it leaned forward, the guest fled toward his parents' room, and the figure vocalized loudly, moved around the house to the porch area, and vocalized again while dogs reacted.

The guest and his family stood behind the house one night listening to loud hyena-like screaming for about ten minutes. The grandmother dismissed it as a cougar. The guest later thought it resembled so-called Umatilla screamer sounds.
