The witness fired a hip shot from a rifle and then two pistol shots as it slid past into shallow water by a tree. They brought the property owner with a tractor, opened the chest, placed a rock inside, and pushed it into the swamp mud.

The witness went alone with a dog on snowshoes in winter to find where the creature lived. In a frozen bog he found a knoll with a dark hole and saw the thing halfway out on all fours. He threatened it, backed out without turning his back, then hiked toward the pond in a whiteout. He saw a distant black shadow seeming to follow, shouted a warning, and continued to town.

The witness was walking out with two companions and a dog after hearing a howl. The witness glanced back and saw its back moving along the top of a stone wall. When the group made noise, it raised its front feet onto the wall and peered at them. They kept walking and did not see or hear it after the wall.

The witness and a companion were set up for long-range shooting near a pond when they heard dogs sounding like fighting. The witness fired at several dogs and then saw a dark dog- or bear-like animal move fast toward them on all fours and briefly stand up. The companion became ill and retched. They packed up and left without identifying it.

The witness and two companions were by a fire near their treehouse when the dog stared into the woods and the witness saw eyes at sitting height. They climbed into the treehouse and later felt something pushing the trap door up. The witness shone a spotlight and saw a bipedal dog-like thing walk away, briefly touch a tree, glance back with a grin, and drop over a knoll. No tracks were found in fresh snow the next morning.

The witness and a classmate were squirrel hunting from a high ledge overlooking a bog. They spotted a dark animal below that the witness thought was a small bear but looked odd. The classmate viewed it through the rifle scope, said it looked demonic and unnatural, and fled, leaving the rifle behind. The witness chased after him without getting a better look.

As a child the witness was scouting deer sign with his father when the family dog ran ahead and began yipping. They heard branches breaking and the dog go silent, and the father drew his sidearm and backed out with the child. The next day they returned with another officer and found the dead dog under cover near the father's tree stand, and the father said a huge Sasquatch-like beast was responsible.

While on a large rural wooded farm, the guest and the farm owner heard what sounded like an off-trail dirt bike uphill on old roads. They hiked up to investigate and found no bike tracks in moist ground and impassable fallen timber. The companion reported hearing conversational voices that the guest could not hear, and they left the area.

The witness, an HVAC apprentice, waited alone in the back of a work van at a rural house in western Massachusetts while his coworker stepped away and a boiler timer ran. He heard faint breathing and a light tap on the van, then saw a very tall dark figure hunched to peer through a 3-4 inch gap in the rear door and locked eyes with it for several seconds. The eye appeared pitch black then briefly glowed white-gray, apparently reflecting the coworker's headlamp, before a loud boiler boom startled the figure. It fled in three loud steps across gravel, grass and leaves that both men heard, left a sour wet-towel odor, and the elderly homeowner responded that local animals are friendly.
