Late one October morning the witness left a house on foot for a bow hunt carrying recording gear. About 100 to 125 yards down a logging road he heard a loud sustained scream from the woods to his left, estimated within 100 feet. The sound rose from a low moan to a scream then fell to a rumble ending in three woof-like blasts, lasting 7-10 seconds and never repeated.
