Vocals and thrown objects experienced by two friends exploring
Two companions hiked through dense brush to explore a quarry in the woods. While approaching and resting at the water they repeatedly heard very loud screech-like sounds and heard several large splashes in the water. As they climbed out and walked toward their vehicle, hard objects began striking the ground near them with increasing accuracy. They fled across a creek and out to their vehicle without ever seeing what produced the sounds or thrown objects.

At age 8 the witness was walking at night near a relative's property, heard a stirring and then low tones, and saw a tall shadowy figure with red-glowing eyes on a steep hillside that slowly backed away uphill. The witness and several companions were sighting in rifles on a warm sunny afternoon when they noticed a large dark figure moving in woods across a creek. Through a rifle scope the witness watched the upright, dark-haired figure repeatedly grab and shake a large tree for 15-20 minutes. Only the upper half of the figure was visible, and the group left without further interaction.

Three companions camped off-trail in a low valley. In the early morning the reporter and one companion were awakened by loud, close wailing vocalizations followed by crashing vegetation, breaking branches and heavy thuds lasting several minutes. A third companion slept through the episode. The group left at dawn and found no physical signs.

The witness and a companion spent the night in a rustic cabin after hiking during the day. After falling asleep, the witness awoke to repeated series of strange cries from a distance that sounded closer with each new series over about an hour. A tall dark hairy creature stood up, made ticking teeth sounds, and walked toward the woods as a strong musky odor was noticed. The animal knocked the dog down, emitted a ticking sound and a musky odor, then walked into the woods where the witness lost sight of it while wearing waders. The witness later found the dog with blood on it and reported seeing a taped-off police search at the site.

The witness and his girlfriend were parked in a lot at night when deer ran past and something thumped the car. The witness got out with a flashlight thinking friends were pranking him and came face to face with a huge wolf-headed creature that growled. He scrambled back into the car and fled, later finding a dent, and both occupants remained frightened for months.

Along a path bordered by cornfield and forest they found places where the spool had been rolled and carried, along with very large human-like footprints. They later found the spool about a mile away where it had been tossed into a steep gully, and felt children were unlikely to have moved it over rugged terrain.

In the summer of 1970 the witness was walking with a pony and dog in thick woods behind the family home when a large dark hairy biped was seen on a hill beyond a fence about 50 feet away. The witness fled in fright while the animals showed no reaction. The figure was never seen again.

The owner heard noises by his fenced trash area late at night and went to look with a rifle. He saw an ape-like animal outside the fence, fired into the air, and watched it stand up with its shoulders and head above the 6-foot fence before fleeing through bushes toward the woods. Footprints were left only in soft dirt by the bushes and one was preserved as a plaster cast.

Looking toward a nearby ground-floor bedroom window, the witness saw a very large hair-covered head looking in, with blinking eyes and visible teeth standing out against darkness. After about 10-15 seconds the witness became frightened, rolled off the bed and crawled to a bathroom where the mother later found him.

The witness's brother spent the night alone in a camper parked in the driveway. Around 1:30 a.m. he watched a shadow move across the curtained window and translucent roof, apparently cast by a neighbor's porch light, as something slowly circled the camper while lightly tapping its sides. The next morning the family found fingerprint smudges, a large handprint, and large toeprints in spilled sand.
