Each time they searched with flashlights and a spotlight but saw no eyes or movement apart from a small fox on the road. The next morning they found no tracks or other sign around the site and lake shore, and later doubted the fox could have made such intense sounds.

The witness then noticed movement 150-200 feet away by a large old redwood stump and discerned a mass with a human-like torso from the waist up, apparently scratching its back against the stump. Late at night while awake alone at the kitchen table, the witness heard a loud vocalization that started as low resonant yelling and rose into high-pitched screams. She said she recognized the sound from family descriptions and was thrilled to finally hear it after visiting the region for many years.

The witness was driving north and pulled off near Edgewood to eat and nap in the parked car. The witness awoke around 1:30AM to a rock hitting the hood, then turned on the headlights and saw a tall chocolate-colored creature watching nearby. After about 20-30 seconds it walked away into brush in a few long strides, and the witness left and later contacted authorities.

The witness parked by a river to fish for steelhead on a rainy winter afternoon and heard two loud whoop-like bellows. While wading downstream the witness saw two tall, hair-covered figures standing motionless across the river and noticed a cocoon-like bundle of grass on a root wad. After fishing back upstream the witness looked back to find the figures and object gone, and a return visit the next day was blocked by flooding.

The witness and his father were camping overnight in a canyon campsite. After dinner while sitting at the campfire they heard a distant loud howl from toward the canyon entrance that was answered by a whoop from behind camp. The two sounds continued in call-and-response for about 10-15 minutes and seemed to move closer and shift position, prompting them to load their guns. The sounds then stopped, and fresh snow overnight prevented any track search the next morning.
Whistle in California (1999)
Shortly after graduation the witness and three friends camped overnight in a vacant house and were tormented by whistles and loud bangs on windows all night. They found the house completely destroyed when they returned the next day. On a dusk return with shotguns they saw trailers upslope, heard the whistle again, and a large rock was thrown at them, prompting gunfire before they fled.

His nested cook pots were then heard clanging and later found unnested and spread out. After finding a long hair on his backpack Velcro he broke camp and drove to Red Bluff.

The witness was sleeping in a large reenactment camp in forested hills when loud, deep howling woke him. The sounds first came from a distant ridge and about an hour later came from much closer down the road, waking many others in camp. The witness loaded his weapon before falling back asleep and heard the sounds move farther away twice more. No tracks were found the next morning.
