They reported a tall hair-covered biped appearing very close across the creek, watching them, vocalizing, then moving uphill without slipping. The being paralleled them as they descended and was last seen crouching on a boulder near their vehicle.

On a clear night in August 1972, the 12-year-old witness was reading late in his bedroom when feral dogs chased something into his backyard. He heard heavy bipedal footfalls, a violent impact against the house corner and window, a grunt, and then a short deep growl directed at the dogs, followed by silence. The intruder then fled over a cedar fence as the dogs pursued, leaving a strong foul odor. Next morning the witness found a flattened flowerbed and trellis, a toppled lumber stack, and a tuft of hair of uncertain origin on the fence.

The witness, then ten, was accompanying a relative on a deer hunt on Peavine Mountain when both heard a long siren-like call from a shadowed draw to the west. The call lasted 15-20 seconds and was repeated multiple times, seeming to move farther away. About a week after the first sighting, three teens were in the desert with laser pointers and saw the tall black figure again. They brought the father back in the truck and all saw it in the headlights by the barricades as it walked then ran and vanished. Parked by a substation they heard very loud heavy running they could not see, then heard a deep loud roar several times and left.

The witness and a friend backpacked seven miles into a remote high lake and camped apart. Around 2 a.m. a loud slap, a mimicked crow call with a deep gurgly ending, and bipedal footsteps woke the witness. A massive wide-shouldered silhouette with a small-seeming head was seen swaying behind the light tent fabric, then moved around the tent for hours, charged at one point, and left near first light.
