About 30 years ago in Columbus, the witness was playing tag with a group of children in a front yard at dusk when the other children fled frightened toward nearby adults. The witness then saw a white, hairy, slightly hunched figure standing and peeking around the corner of a duplex, with the top of its head level with the top of a window estimated at over seven feet. The figure moved slightly side to side before the witness backed away, and it was gone when checked shortly after, with no trace found the next morning.

After someone fired at it with a .22, it growled and the group fled with the dogs back to their vehicles.

The witness, then a teenager on a church group camping trip in the mountains, was sleeping apart from the group and watching the peaks. He noticed the jagged horizon looked smooth and swaying, realized it was the silhouette of a large standing animal at the foot of his sleeping bag, smelled a skunk-cabbage odor, hid under his bag, and later found it gone. Around the same time other children by a rock overhang shouted about seeing a big gorilla-like figure moving and walking away, which the adults dismissed.

The witness was on a Boy Scout campout in the Murdoch area near Tampa. On the second night after midnight during an initiation outing with another scout, they saw a very large figure running bipedally into the woods at high speed while giving a high-pitched scream or shriek. A strange smell was noted but was attributed at the time to sulphur water. The troop reportedly never returned to the area to camp.
