In mid-August 1985, the witness had just returned inside after kenneling two large dogs when the dogs began barking intensely. From a kitchen window she watched a large reddish-brown hairy biped run toward a creek for about 30 seconds before it jumped from a drop-off into the creek and headed into the ravine. Later that day she found skid-like slip marks and toe impressions on the trail where it had run.

The animal paused in the ditch and appeared to look for traffic before taking long strides across the highway and down the opposite ditch. A fisherman was driving out on a dirt road by a river after dark with headlights on while his dog ran ahead. The headlights revealed an upright animal standing in the road ahead, which then dropped to all fours and ran out of sight. The dog ran back to the truck and jumped in through an opened door, and the witness drove away without getting out.

As she slowed, the figures ran upright across the road in front of her car and disappeared into thick vegetation on the other side. Both occupants agreed it was not a bear or monkey and described it as about four and a half to five feet tall, dark brown and ape-like.

He mistook an approaching figure for a co-worker, hid to startle him, then came face to face at about 15 feet with a very large hairy biped that grunted, producing a visible cloud of breath. The creature walked into the bush and snapped a large branch, the witness fled down to the crusher, drove to town, and later returned with his friend to find a torn branch and large spaced steps leading to a ledge.

The witness watched from a back bedroom through blinds as an animal pulled trash bags from cans and a burn barrel, scattering and rummaging through garbage. The animal ran on its knuckles, climbed onto the tailgate, and reached toward her with a leathery human-like hand while making a rumbling sound. Her father shot at it, it fell off and rolled, and she then saw a second tall skinny brownish-reddish hairy figure lean over it.
