While on a wildland fire assignment in Northern California, the witness was pulled from a tent at dusk to look across a river. The witness watched a tall, dark-haired, muscular bipedal animal on the riverbank that looked toward the gathering group for several minutes. When flashlights were shone toward it, it ran into the riverside woods, pushing trees aside, and was briefly seen again as a silhouette in an uphill clearing before disappearing.

The witness was driving on a gravel road looking for a bow-season campsite in late morning. Glancing in the rearview mirror, the witness saw a very tall, broad, dark upright creature standing in the middle of the road behind the vehicle. After stopping, the witness watched it pivot, take a step to the side of the road, and disappear down a steep rocky slope. No definite footprints were found in the gravel where it had stood.

The witness, a newspaper carrier, was stopped by the road in the dark reviewing a route sheet. A figure approached the vehicle from the passenger side to within a few feet, appearing curious and focused on the inside of the vehicle, then crossed the road. In August 2003 the witness left relatives fishing to hunt ginseng on a ridge near Yatesville Lake. He claimed hearing wood-like knocks and rocks moving through the trees, then seeing a large upright hair-covered figure watching him from across a hollow. He said he spoke to it, then hurried down the mountain hearing crunching steps and more thrown rocks behind him, and then packed his family out of the area.

The reporter and his wife saw a large animal cross the road ahead in the headlights and disappear into the trees. The wife, who had clearer vision, described it as monkey-like, heavy-set, with light brown hair, walking slowly and casually on two legs without looking at the car.

Three youths riding in the back of a pickup while spotlighting for deer saw a tall hair-covered figure standing off the road in trees. The spotlight lit it for a second or two, then the truck backed up and the figure was gone. The witnesses noticed a foul sour odor, became scared, and left the area.

In summer 2003 the witness was horseback riding with relatives and a companion on dirt roads through an unused hunting lease around midday. After turning back from a dead end, the witness stopped to look at a dead snake, then looked up and saw an upright, hair-covered creature leap across the full width of the road. The companions were facing the opposite direction and did not see it, suggesting a cow or deer, but the witness remained convinced it was bipedal and erect.

After turning on the headlights, the witness saw a tall hairy creature standing in the road about 30 yards away staring at them. After about a minute the creature walked into the adjacent woods with long strides. The witness returned the next day but found no usable tracks.

The witness was driving with a companion in the afternoon when he saw a dark, hair-covered, manlike figure on two legs run across the intersection ahead and appear to step over a barbed-wire fence. The subject rose from a crouched position and walked across the field of view for about 20 seconds before leaving sight. The pair then left the area back-to-back, and the witness says he was scared and has avoided the area since.

The witness was driving west for work when, after cresting a hill, the witness saw in the rear-view mirror a reddish-brown hair-covered creature cross the highway from south to north. The creature walked without hurry with long strides and showed no interest in the vehicles. The witness stopped, turned around and searched the crossing area but saw nothing further.
