Moose hunter shoots "bigfoot" to death
While hunting moose alone on the west side of a lake, the witness mistook a tall hair-covered biped seen from behind for the rump of a wounded moose and shot it between the shoulder blades, killing it instantly. The witness then walked around the body, noting its very large size, dark brown long hair, bare palms with opposed thumbs, and flat five-toed feet estimated around fifteen inches, before leaving quickly out of fear and concern about hunting without a license. The account was kept private for about thirty years until the witness recognized similar creatures in published film and began speaking about it.

As a young teenager bringing cows across a canal near dark, the diarist saw a large bear-like figure standing on hind feet by a sapling 600-700 feet away and felt intense chill. Cows were undisturbed and his father was unconcerned. Next morning with his friend [name withheld] he found a huge bare footprint in wet mud under the sapling, estimated 8.5-9 feet tall using [name withheld]'s height, and nearby found a stick-bed with a strong repulsive odor.

The reporter recounts stories his parents told about a logging camp in the early 1930s shortly after their 1932 marriage. After an initial close approach to another woman in camp, a large hairy human-like creature was seen repeatedly in the evenings, at times leaning on a parked truck and running upright faster than dogs. The father prevented others from shooting it because it looked too human.

The witness was positioned on one mountainside watching across a valley toward an opposite slope where an elk was being stalked by two large brown animals first taken for bears. Viewed through binoculars, the two stood upright and walked on two legs, keeping the elk between them and at times hiding behind trees before entering heavy timber after about five minutes. The outcome for the elk was not seen, but the witness thought the pair probably killed it.

A prospector camping alone in coastal mountains awoke at night to being carried inside his sleeping bag for hours to a small enclosed valley. There he encountered four hair-covered individuals described as a family group and was held for about six days living on remaining canned food. He gained favor with the younger ones using snuff and handmade utensils, then incapacitated the adult male with a large dose of snuff and escaped during the resulting commotion, hiking south to a logging camp for help.

The witness was prospecting and camping near the head of Toba Inlet when supplies were disturbed for three nights. He was then carried inside his sleeping bag for about three hours to an enclosed valley. There a family group of four hair-covered beings held him for six days, during which he shared small gifts and observed their behavior. He escaped after the adult male swallowed snuff and became ill, then hiked out to civilization.

A witness was with a berry-picking group when a tied horse began struggling against its tree. The witness heard the commotion, approached the horse, and saw a hairy manlike creature after the horse. The creature then ran into the brush, and the group left the area.

A father and son were returning from an unsuccessful hunting trip when the father stopped by a fallen tree to light his pipe and saw a tall hairy unclothed figure standing nearby. The figure vocalized loudly after noticing the man, then walked quickly toward the woods. The son joined his father and both watched the first figure and a second slightly smaller one walk along the woods edge before disappearing into the trees.

The witness was on night watch at a mountain outpost in Afghanistan when an unknown subject was seen through a military thermal scope about 500-600 meters away for 10-15 minutes. The subject moved very agilely up loose shale and appeared large with heavy shoulders and a uniform heat signature interpreted as unclothed. Five other soldiers were woken to view it, and none could identify it.

The witness, then 14, was hunting grouse alone with a dog on overgrown trails in northern Ontario in the morning. After noticing a strong odor and the dog fleeing, a large upright hair-covered creature rose from tall grass nearby, looked briefly, and crossed the trail silently into brush. The witness froze, then ran back the way they came while hearing branches breaking as the creature moved away.
