The witness reported finding large five-toed tracks measuring 13-14 inches long and 6-7 inches wide. The find occurred at the edge of a clear cut overlooking Packwood from the south while cutting wood. No creature was seen.

In the early afternoon the witness was about to enter brush ringing a stream inlet when a very tall, hair-covered human-like figure came within about 20 feet at a slow walk. The witness described its size, hair, facial features and muscular build, noting it was defensive but not threatening and made no sound. The witness withdrew to a truck without being followed, and also noted a very large track, sand mounds, possible vomit and scat, and bark damage in the same area.

In November 1979 the witness walked on a low lake's exposed mud flat following the inlet stream and found very large human-like tracks. He followed them about 100 meters and noted they crossed deep water twice and ascended a steep bank without changing stride or showing shaking off. On the night of July 4, 1979, the witness was relaxing with a large group at a farmhouse after fireworks when the group saw a very large figure walking quickly across a bean field about 300 yards away. The figure leaned forward and swung its arms as it crossed the field and disappeared behind a hill. The witness and a relative drove into the field and followed a trail to a barbed-wire fence where the ground was torn up, scanned the nearby treeline with spotlights without seeing anything, then backed out.

A group of six people observed a large, brown, long-haired, foul-smelling animal for about 15 seconds in the morning. The animal walked quickly away without running and disappeared into a swampy wooded area when they tried to follow. The witness found footprints, made a cast of one and gave it to the state natural resources agency without receiving a response, and noted another print in stream clay. No vocalizations were heard and the encounter was described as not life-threatening.

A large hairy face was peering inside from a few feet away and looked directly at the child. The terrified child fled upstairs to a relative, and holes in the snow were later seen where the figure had stood.

They noticed a strong foul odor and an unusual silence, became frightened, and ran back to the house. The witness and his brother were hunting in river bottoms when the witness lay on a game trail. A tall hairy creature climbed the far bank, ate leaves, then walked into the field toward him. The witness fled on foot as the creature dropped to all fours and appeared to cut him off, then he found large tracks with his brother.

Near a turn the tracks stopped, snow clumps rolled down an embankment and brush moved as if something had just jumped uphill, and the pair left quickly.

The dog ran ahead then retreated in distress, while the figure paused, crouched, approached closer, then sprinted to cover. The witness spent a winter night sleeping on a couch in an unfinished hillside cabin while two dogs slept nearby. During the night a large-sounding movement was heard outside that agitated the dogs for about fifteen minutes, but the witness did not look outside. The next morning the witness found a line of large five-toed footprints in snow that appeared to pass the cabin, step over a barbed-wire fence, and jump a creek before continuing uphill, but heavy snow later covered them.

The witness and relatives moved into a secluded house surrounded by woods on Christmas Day. The next morning the witness noticed large footprints in fresh snow that led from the woods around the side of the house to the high front windows. The creature continued down to the witness's elevation, around a hill and down a logging road through a meadow until out of sight over 2-3 minutes. The witness later searched the meadow without relocating it and later found leaf impressions showing a long stride.

While hiking, the witness claimed to see a manlike creature on an island in a bog. Tracks were also reported from the island and attributed to a district forester, with the claim that deep snow and temperatures would have prevented a human from traveling there and surviving.

On a muddy road the witness smelled a strong odor and found a single large bare five-toed footprint, then noticed a dark hairy biped 50 to 80 yards away across a stream that walked gracefully into the treeline in a few seconds. The witness ran back to camp, and relatives later saw the same footprint.

The witness reports finding dozens of large five-toed footprints in wet, packed sand. Most were roughly boot-length but wider and over an inch deep, with a second deformed variant and a larger unclear print leading toward a cliff. While mushroom hunting with a child near a creek, the witness noticed movement behind a tree across the creek and then saw part of a dark hair-covered entity, including knee, shoulder and face. The entity moved behind the tree out of view, and the witness left immediately with the child. She later returned with a firearm and found footprints where the entity had stood.
