Two boys camping on a wooded ridge left their tent in the early morning and noticed a large bipedal shape moving in nearby trees. They watched it stand and observe them from about 30 feet away but could only discern a dark, fur-covered outline in low light. Frightened, they returned to the tent. Around dawn they heard a strange howling from down the ridge that did not sound like a dog or coyote.

The witness pulled over on a roadside near woods, a creek and a lake for night fishing and stepped a short distance into the woods. He heard heavy footsteps moving through leaves toward him that seemed bipedal and too heavy for a dog, and the sounds paused when he paused and then rushed as he reached his truck. After driving away, he saw a large dark upright figure standing in the road behind him in his rearview mirror.
Rockhound startled to find he's being observed
The witness was looking for rocks in a forested area in the early morning and returned to the parked car to find the windshield wipers flipped outward. The witness then noticed a dark crouched mass at the tree line first taken for a bear. After getting into the car and slamming the door, the witness saw the figure stand about 7-8 feet tall and run away over a rock mound, then drove away.

The witness was sleeping alone on a rock ledge above a drainage when she heard loud repetitive whooping and howling from far below. The source moved rapidly uphill, climbed a steep cliff to the ledge, and ran past her toward the peak above, pausing briefly to look toward her. It then vocalized from the top of the peak until near sunrise, and she left the area at first light.
Couple has early evening encounter at home near Forsyth
Late one summer evening in 1998, a couple lying in bed in their trailer heard repeated loud screams and their dogs became highly agitated. The husband went outside with a flashlight and saw red-orange eyeshine well above normal human face height, then a tall upright shadow running toward the southwest. No further screams occurred and the dogs stayed agitated for 10-15 minutes. The couple decided not to call emergency services.
Evening encounter by backpacker in Hoosier National Forest
The witness was backpacking alone and set up camp above a ravine in the evening. After hearing rustling below, the witness used a flashlight and saw a tall dark-haired bipedal figure hiding behind trees about 40 feet away. The figure moved to another tree while being watched for 2-3 minutes, then ran down the creek out of sight. The witness remained by the fire until daylight and found no prints in the morning.

The witness and family were playing ping-pong in the walk-out basement when the witness let the dog into the backyard. The dog barked and backed away from the neighbor's fence line, where the witness saw the moonlit silhouette of a tall figure's head above the fence. After watching briefly, the witness saw the figure duck, turn toward a ravine, and leave silently. The witness later interpreted the figure as possibly Bigfoot based on its height relative to the fence.
Memory told of a late night close encounter from a parked vehicle outside Gatlinburg
The witness and a companion were parked in a truck at a mountain road landing late at night and watched a wild boar rooting in snow. After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

The witness was deer hunting from a familiar tree stand and had been there about two hours when loud deep breathing, snorts and bellows were directed at them from nearby. The witness caught only a brief glimpse of a tall upright shadow moving swiftly but could not get a clear view through the scope and did not fire. The source of the sounds then left very loudly, and the witness was too frightened to immediately check for tracks.
Hunter has possible encounter near Huntington Reservoir
Before sunrise during deer shotgun season, the witness sat against a tree near a damaged bridge and dozed off. After hearing a twig snap, he saw a tall dark figure walking with long strides along a trail and crossing the washed-out bridge without breaking stride. He first assumed it was another hunter, but later realized no other hunters were present and the figure wore no orange.

Late at night the witness and a companion were driving north when they noticed a very large, dark, tall figure standing motionless on the side of the road facing east. The outline stood out in the darkness and its eyes reflected a white/silvery light. Both occupants were shocked and spoke little about it afterward.

The witness was camping alone in a tall tent when something large approached at night. A tall shadow with broad shoulders was cast on the tent by an outside lantern. The visitor opened food containers, ate bread, growled, overturned a cooler and carried off meat before leaving toward the river where vocalizations were heard. Large footprints and teeth marks were found the following morning.
Forest worker has many encounters with bigfoot
Two forestry workers resurveying a remote allotment for a timber harvest reported being followed at a distance while smelling a heavy stench. During a break they heard large movement in the brush, threw a piece of wood toward the sound, and then saw the backlit shadows of four hair-covered figures behind bushes in a break of sunlight. The witness described two large males standing motionless, a thin female with a hump who vocalized and wrung her hands, and a smaller child-sized figure, before the light faded and the pair left the area to finish work later.

The witness and a relative were target shooting near a lake at sunset and walked to look for deer sign. The relative reported seeing a tall hairy figure by the car while whistles were heard. As they returned to the car in the dark they encountered a strong foul odor, heard heavy running footsteps ending with a thud near a gully, and heard a grating voice-like sound before driving away.

Through the tent screen the witness saw a tall, dark, hair-covered bipedal silhouette standing a short distance away, which stood still briefly before turning and walking away toward a field out of view. The witness told family the next morning and later searched the field but found no trace.
Video footage shot at dusk shows a primate in a tree in the background
A group filmed their campfire in upstate New York in 1997 without noticing anything unusual at the time. Years later while transferring the tape, a viewer noticed a dark figure moving in the trees in the background. The footage is described as showing a smaller ape-like figure about five feet tall climbing and swinging between trees with great agility, and follow-up review describes a second larger bipedal silhouette nearby.
Possible Sighting by Deer Hunter in the Ottawa National Forest
During the November 1996 deer season, the witness was walking back to camp just after dusk when he saw a dark, very large man-like silhouette standing in the trail about 50 yards ahead. After he spoke to it, the figure silently stepped off the trail into dense cover and vanished. He waited, then passed the spot with his rifle ready, and a next-day search found no sign because fresh snow had fallen.

The witness and a companion were camping in a tent at Alexander Springs. After playing cards until about 3 a.m., the companion fell asleep while the witness lay awake. The witness heard surrounding animal sounds fall silent, smelled a skunk-like odor, saw a tall upright shadow on the tent wall and heard a grunt-like noise. In the morning the coolers had been ransacked, and the pair left the campground early the next night after feeling uneasy.
Sasquatch sighting in Georgia (1996)
The witness had parked facing outward near an unfinished house in his uncle's neighborhood and walked to his cousin's house. Returning about 100 yards away in the dark, he saw a tall dark shape pause behind his car and walk into the woods, mistaking it for his tall cousin. At the car he found his cousin already asleep inside, realizing what he saw was not him.

While driving to work early in the morning with his son's mother, headlights revealed a dark shimmery-black figure crouched on the roadside. When lights hit it, it stood, crossed the road in two strides heading south, rolled into the ditch and vanished. The co-witness would not call it Bigfoot but did not know what it was.
