The witness hiked with family members on a cold damp spring day to a creek and cave area. After noticing a large tree down across the trail, the group encountered a hair-covered primate-like creature that peered over the tree while rocks were thrown toward them. The witness froze during prolonged eye contact, felt detached and aware of the creature's curiosity, and was eventually pulled away.

The witness was solo canoe-camping on a river and went to the water's edge after dinner. He heard splashes, saw a large rock fly through the air and land near him, then shined a light and saw eyes for about two seconds before they vanished. He fired a pistol with no response and left camp for home.

The witness and her husband were relaxing on the back porch of a mountain cabin in the evening when they heard prolonged loud howling from across the mountain to the southeast. The vocalizations lasted several minutes and did not match any wildlife known to them. About 15-30 minutes later they heard large rocks crashing downhill from a closer position on their side of the mountain.

He turned to see an upright animal at close range that quickly climbed the steep bank to the ridgeline. They left at dusk and later agreed among themselves it had not been a bear despite one relative's dismissive explanation.

They noticed a strong odor and then saw a small black hairy figure sitting on the opposite bank throwing rocks into the water. The witness also relayed a friend's solo report of something large jumping tree to tree with a shadow passing overhead.
