While fishing alone, the witness noticed rocks landing in the water and first thought fish were jumping or someone was playing a trick. After throwing a rock back and hearing a thud instead of a normal impact, the witness heard a loud growl and a larger rock passed nearby. The witness ran back to the house without seeing anything.

Three people were fishing at night at a pool on a river near a bridge when they saw a frightened coyote run past and heard splashes. A large dark figure standing waist-deep in the river about 40 yards away then threw boulders toward them, with the closest landing a few yards away and splashing water on them. The group shouted, reeled in their lines, and fled through trees and a field to their car. They returned the next day and judged the water depth and boulders inconsistent with a person.

After wading into the river to fish near the opposite bank, a small rock flew past their head, then a second rock followed after they resumed fishing. In early summer 1984 the witness, then 14, and a companion rowed to an island in Haywire Bay for an overnight fishing trip. Late at night they heard repeated very large splashes from the mainland side that sounded like large rocks being dropped or thrown into the water. They considered a beaver tail slap but felt the timing and resounding sound did not fit. They told their parents, who attributed it to teenage imagination.

A large dark figure sat on its haunches on the path to the river about twenty to thirty feet away, backlit by the moon. After a frozen stare the witness shut the door, heard distinct bipedal footsteps, then a fist-sized rock and a freshly ripped branch struck the camper.

After dark, rocks were repeatedly thrown hard and accurately at the group, continuing through the night until dawn and frightening many campers.
