In 1971 the nine-year-old witness and other children rode bikes toward a house where a bear was reported looking in windows. A large black hairy creature crossed the road in front of them and went down a trail toward their woods fort. The witness followed, confronted it at close range, saw a muscular creature with a blonde head patch and expressionless face, then yelled for the others to retreat and ran home.

On a moonlit night in summer 1970, the witness was on a road by a cornfield with a companion when a large brownish creature was heard and then seen running across the road, down a ditch, over a fence and into the cornfield. The creature had a foul smell. The witness returned the next day and found large smudged footprints in the road and cornfield.

The dogs began barking aggressively, and the witness saw a large hair-covered creature step from the woods and walk across the road about 200 feet away. It paused, turned its whole torso toward the children, then continued into the tree line. The frightened children ran to a neighbor's house, and the witness's mother later suggested it was a Bigfoot, which the witness confirmed from a magazine photo weeks later.
