It paused in front of the car, turned its head to look at them, then continued across the road into the woods. In winter 1977-1978 the witness and a companion were driving east on M-28 near Seney around 1:30 a.m. They saw a figure crossing the road ahead, backlit by headlights from beyond a knoll. She stopped close to it, stepped out behind her car door, and watched it for about a minute under her headlights while noting red glowing eyes and a musky odor and feeling calm. The biped then crossed the road, stepped over the opposite fence, paused to look back, and strode toward trees out of sight.
