A witness and his two sons were leaving an area where they had been setting turtle lines when the witness saw a tall reddish biped near a dirt road about a quarter-mile away that stepped into the woods. During the day they found a very fresh opened deer carcass, returned to find their camp meticulously rummaged including an animal-proof cooler, and found a nearby large tent camp abandoned and dusty. Around 3 a.m. a huge heavy presence breathed deeply, smelled of wet animal and strong body odor, moved around the tents while the forest went silent, terrifying them until sunrise when they packed and left without speaking.

The witness shot a doe behind the house at dusk and left it overnight to retrieve in the morning. The carcass was gone in the morning and was later found about 120 yards away along a tree line where branches were bent about six feet high. The deer had a broken neck and torn-open chest with most organs missing, unlike coyote damage familiar to the witness. The witness felt watched and eerie, left the kill, and has avoided the area after dark since.

The witness settled into a 6-foot ground blind before daylight to deer hunt. Something stepped over a nearby fence and approached with heavy footsteps, then breathed, sniffed and pressed down on the top of the blind. Two companions were night fishing at a reservoir when they heard tree knocks and unfamiliar calls that seemed to get closer. They decided to leave and found one of two large catfish missing from the back of the truck, then the companion was struck in the chest by a small thrown rock. The witness and her husband were awakened after midnight by strange sounds from their children's bedroom heard through a baby monitor, including squeaking at the window and a thump against the house wall. After the husband turned on exterior lights, the witness saw a large shadow move quickly away from the house toward nearby woods. Shortly after, both heard a very loud double whoop vocalization twice, which the husband said could not have been an owl.

The witness noted the nighttime disturbance could have been a bear, but also noted a food-strewn garbage bag was left untouched.
