The witness and a relative drove into a forested area near lava flows and walked a short distance down a trail to watch the sunset. They heard grunting and other sounds and noticed bushes moving as something appeared to follow them for about a quarter mile. Back at the car, something very close screamed and shook the bushes violently, frightening them into quickly driving away.

The witness reports hearing weird animal noises combining growl and howl while dogs stared at woods.
