After returning to camp toward dusk the couple heard howl-like sounds circling and closing in, built a fire, and the husband on a wood run saw large widely spaced yellow eyes of something crouched nearby. They kept the fire and tried to sleep. In the morning while hiking to the main trail something flanked them on the right sounding like three bipeds while their normally barky dog stayed silent.

The witness, a tour guide, was waiting at the mountain-top cavern entrance with two tourists for the return bus on a cloudy day. The witness radioed for the bus and left with the group, later quitting the job to avoid being alone on the mountain.

Before dawn during deer gun season, three hunters were spread along a wooded creek bottom. The youngest hunter, waiting alone in the dark, reported a very large dark fur-covered biped running past and then walking away to the northwest. The witness was hunting alone from a ridge when repeated very loud, short guttural shouts or growls approached from about 200 yards to about 75 yards, accompanied by rapidly approaching breaking brush. He never saw the source but readied a camera and rifle while waiting motionless. After a spooked cow moose ran through a distant saddle, he threw rocks and fired a shot with no response and then left.

Late at night the witness and three companions were shining for deer from a truck when they spotted a large crouched figure with amber eyes in a field. The figure stood up and ran diagonally toward the truck as they drove away. It kept pace to within about ten feet while the truck reached at least 30 mph, then disappeared into the tree line.

On the night of October 28, 2000 the witness was hosting an adult-only backyard barbecue party with about a dozen guests. Around 10 p.m. the group heard loud unidentified sounds from the woods near the back of the property and heard heavy footsteps breaking branches that sounded bipedal. Two men entered the woods with a flashlight but the source stayed distant and was never seen, and no tracks were found in deep oak leaves.

The writer heard the movement but did not see it; the companion briefly saw only the dark top of its head or back above tall shrubs. The writer interprets the three incidents as one animal trailing them through the day.

Something ran across gravel behind them, slapped the side of their parked pickup three times, and shook branches while heavy footsteps were felt. After reaching the truck to leave, they heard a loud, close, high-pitched unearthly scream and drove away quickly.

Two companions paddled a small boat up a remote swampy creek in the late afternoon. A large rock was thrown from the wooded bank and splashed into the creek ahead of them, after which one of them fired warning shots and they turned back. As they paddled back after dark, they heard heavy footsteps in the woods that stopped when they stopped paddling and resumed when they paddled, continuing until they reached the road.

During a family reunion campout, four relatives walked to nearby creek pools at night to look for frogs. They smelled a strong fecal odor and heard rustling and two heavy thuds approaching from dense woods, then fled back to camp. After calming down, some returned armed but found no source, noticed the odor was gone and the dogs had not reacted, and one noted a den-like resting spot across the marshy creek.

Over about an hour the witness heard rocks rolling, brush breaking and movement that seemed to follow and stop with them. While returning toward the road the witness turned to see an upright, brown, long-haired animal about 60-70 yards away that immediately leapt into dense timber. The witness was uncertain whether the sounds and sighting involved the same animal and noted a bear as a possible alternative, only later considering Bigfoot after finding a website.

A group of girls on a summer-camp hike entered a swamp-like area where they heard twigs snap, smelled a foul odor, and saw a dark hairy bipedal creature moving among trees. The creature paused and looked toward them after one girl screamed, and the group fled. A counselor later told them it was a bear, which the witness doubted because it walked on two legs and was in a swamp.

Leaders dismissed the claim as a prank and told the group to go back to sleep.
