The guest backpacked alone into the remote Sierra camp where the Sierra Sounds were recorded to see if activity continued. During the afternoon he heard a loud wood knock outside his tent, and that night he heard chatter, a barrel being banged, loud bipedal footsteps circling, and breathing right beside the tent. After a quiet interval he heard an unexplained electronic sound outside at 4 a.m. He left the next morning convinced the group was still present.

The witness, on patrol driving west on Highway 128 outside Cloverdale, first noticed movement and eye reflection in brush along a ravine. After backing up, the witness observed a tall, brown-furred bipedal figure walking away through overgrowth, pushing branches aside with its arm. The witness then stopped and listened for several minutes as slow crunching sounds receded toward a creek area.

A couple picnicking by a creek at dusk heard a loud howl from downstream with gibberish-like barking between howls, then an answering howl from the ridge behind them. Cattle downstream moved upstream away from the sound. They left at dark, drove downstream toward the first howl location, saw a buck fleeing the creek bottom, and found no people at creek access areas.

A team of four was conducting a nighttime sound survey from a clear-cut overlooking a river valley while one member did a live radio interview from a parked vehicle near the treeline. The interviewer heard repeated charging sounds, footfalls and a grunt-growl from dense brush a few feet away while two teammates uphill watched with a night-vision device. The uphill observers reported a huge 8-foot-plus figure about 25 feet away leaning side to side to look through the trees and moving its arms. The episode lasted about 30 minutes, followed later by a distant scream, and a next-day search found disturbed soil but no footprints.

They reported seeing a pair of red glowing eyes about eight feet high that watched them for about a minute, though no body outline was visible in the dark. The source of the eyes then turned and moved away through the woods making crashing sounds.

While living on a military base and walking a trail past eroded hillsides to the beach, the witness repeatedly smelled a strong odor and had small rocks tossed at the back of the carried board. The witness once saw the hairy backside of a large figure running into the hollows, and a friend who teased its speech and threw a rock was chased. Soon after, military police closed the area and the hillside was leveled.

After catching a large trout late in the day far downriver, the witness climbed the gorge in darkness and tried to find the road through brush. A large unseen presence to his left breathed deeply, walked through vegetation rather than around it, and paced him, stopping and moving with him. He broke his pole, was struck by a whipped branch, reached the road, ran to camp, and later saw brushed-down vegetation where he emerged.

Two teenagers with small-caliber rifles were walking back to their vehicle late at night after frog hunting around a brush-ringed pond. Something in the thick brush knocked vegetation aside and paced them, stopping when they stopped and moving when they moved. About thirty yards from the car they ran and drove off.

A visitor from the UK went to a beach near Monterey to photograph sea otters at sundown. She watched six very large, hairy bipeds come around a cove, with a large male wading while others handled seaweed on the sand. After her camera gear clattered on rocks, the male approached and argued vocally with a female before threatening her, after which she lost consciousness.

The witness was working alone overnight operating noisy machinery at a mountain job site in the rain. He heard impacts on a metal container, then saw a dark upright figure by the trees that crept toward him as rocks were thrown. He fled to his car, struggled to open a locked gate, then faced a much larger red-eyed figure that snapped a branch, vocalized loudly, and bluff-charged. He escaped in his car with damage to the vehicle.

When the brother left briefly chasing a buck, the witness heard a loud yell and had rocks land around and herd movement back to the fire break. The brother later said he had seen a big dark monster throwing rocks and had fled home separately.

The youngest daughter froze after seeing movement, and the witness ran forward to see a large hairy human-like figure by a tree staring at them. The middle daughter had recorded video, and later visits found large bare footprints where the figures had been.
