Over about four years the household noticed odd sounds, smells and disturbances around their wooded Texas property. They heard voice-like calls, hoots, growls and repeated wood knocks, found scat, stripped and snapped trees, and missing bait. A man driving to fish with his son stopped on a road near a lake after seeing what he thought was a bear. The animal stood upright, revealing a very tall, broad, dark-brown hairy human-like form, and the driver got out and shouted at it. The creature vocalized loudly, threw part of a snake toward them, then ran rapidly into the woods.

The witness was riding as a passenger with a relative driving home when they first noticed a large crouched figure by the roadside. After turning around and losing sight of it, they saw a tall, dark reddish-brown shaggy upright figure cross the road ahead of them in two steps. The figure moved quickly, did not look at the cars, and disappeared into roadside bushes, after which the witnesses left the area.

When they returned in the morning to collect belongings they heard a loud wavering scream and fled, later noting broken limbs in the area.

In 1977 two companions hunting frogs at a remote pond heard a roar and saw trees moving. One saw a large brown hairy form partly hidden behind a cedar tree and swaying. Both fled on foot while hearing heavy thuds, and one saw a large rock bouncing nearby. A few days later they returned and found a cleared limb bed and a limb torn from a mesquite tree, but no footprints due to rocky ground.

While checking trot-lines at night from a rowboat, the witness and a companion had to carry the boat across a shallow gravel bed. They heard sharp cracking sounds and then something rushing toward them from the bank, breaking trees. In moonlight they saw a tall dark hairy figure with orange eyes and long arms approaching quickly, prompting them to flee by boat to camp and then leave the area by vehicle.

The witness and relatives were camped overnight when a foul stench filled the air and an extremely loud scream beginning as a growl was heard. The dog hid, and rounds fired into the air temporarily drove the source away, but it returned repeatedly until dawn despite a large fire. Nothing was ever seen and no unusual tracks were found, though a nearby stand of broken saplings carried the same odor.

The men left the area and later returned at dusk with two other men to find a dead calf with entrails removed and disturbed brush nearby. Dogs brought to the site reportedly would not leave the vehicle, and the group left.

A day or so after the eyeshine, the witness noticed two skinny trees broken at the same height near the shed. He pushed one over and pulled the other from the ground. He concluded they were limbs stuck in the ground, not growing trees.

The neighbor, initially a non-believer, reports ongoing hollering, screaming, grunting, monkey sounds and whistles from multiple directions. Sticks and limbs were thrown at them on a tractor, and whistles answered post-driving. The property shows stripped bark, snapped and twisted trees, a trail-camera image and a footprint at a low-water crossing.
