The witness slowly backed away looking down, the animal followed a short distance then turned, paused near a bushy spot, and walked into the woods. The witness rejoined companions who laughed, and has not returned to the area.

Over several days and nights they reported heavy impacts, rustling, a skunk-like odor, red eyeshine, wood knocks, whistles, talk-like mumbling, a whoop-ending vocalization, and bent trees and branch structures. The most intense moment was a predawn episode with a deep guttural roar followed by a scream-like sound near camp. They left early after smelling the odor again near a plum thicket.

Alone on a full-moon night the witness heard whoops from two directions, then alternating knocks and thumps for over an hour. Loud chatter erupted from behind the car in the swamp, followed by a tree fall and final whoop. Next day a fresh snapped tree and viewing window in brush were found.
