Screams and stalking at a Girl Scout camp 13 miles west of Dubuque
In the summer of 1959 the witness was working as a counselor at a wooded Girl Scout camp. Over roughly two weeks, staff repeatedly heard footsteps moving through the tent area after dark, saw a dark figure near a hut, and found a director's tent ransacked, with deputies searching each day without finding anyone. On the final night the group heard extremely loud screams that moved from near a remote tent toward a pond and creek and found a large maple branch freshly broken off, leading the witness years later to wonder if the visitor had been a Bigfoot.

Two hunters reported seeing a tall upright creature burst from dense brush carrying a calf in its arms. The men left the area and later returned at dusk with two other men to find a dead calf with entrails removed and disturbed brush nearby. Dogs brought to the site reportedly would not leave the vehicle, and the group left.

In fall 2000 the wife reportedly saw a large dark figure walk across a field about 300 yards from home and into woods bordering a lake. The brief 3-5 second view was described as taller than five feet based on fence posts, stocky with very large shoulders, dark brown to black hair, and walking on two legs, causing an initial bear impression to be dismissed. The account was submitted by her husband along with later family experiences in the same wooded swamp-lake area.

The witness was riding a pony bareback on a back road when the animal stopped at the top of a hill. About 400 feet ahead, a large reddish-brown hairy biped with very long arms was walking toward them on the road. The pony reared, turned, and bolted back downhill to a nearby yard. Later the witness returned with a relative, who found broken branches where the creature appeared to have left the road for the woods.

The witness and a companion were camping in a tent on the witness's driveway in mid-October. Around 2 a.m. under a full moon, the witness awoke to grunting and snapping trees and saw a large hair-covered figure striking and eating a deer, then dragging it uphill. The figure approached the tent, giving off a strong musky odor and knocking a frying pan from a tree before leaving. In the morning the witness found deer remains, drag marks, and a shelter-like structure of bent and broken pines.

A few days later the witness was counting cattle in the morning when he noticed a huge upright figure between a barn and a tree across the field. The figure grunted, swiped and broke a large branch, then walked away. The witness later returned with others and estimated the branch height at about eight to nine feet.

After the sheriff fled and returned with military trucks there was heavy automatic gunfire, and the father and son later found large amounts of blood and bullet-riddled trees.

The witness, then a child, arrived home at night when car headlights lit a large hairy figure standing at a mowed corridor into the woods. He got out for a better look while puppies cried nearby, his sister joined him, then his father shouted for them to stop and the figure crossed the opening and thrashed away loudly. The next day they found puppies in the woods and knocked-down vegetation with limbs broken high up.

The witness was working alone overnight operating noisy machinery at a mountain job site in the rain. He heard impacts on a metal container, then saw a dark upright figure by the trees that crept toward him as rocks were thrown. He fled to his car, struggled to open a locked gate, then faced a much larger red-eyed figure that snapped a branch, vocalized loudly, and bluff-charged. He escaped in his car with damage to the vehicle.

Teenagers walking home late at night through a game reserve heard heavy footsteps behind them. They turned to see a tall thick bipedal creature that darted into the woods breaking limbs. They returned the next day to find broken pine saplings where it had gone through.

The witness was in a tree stand when he heard higher-pitched chatter and movement approaching, followed by a grunt, silence, and sounds of two things running downhill. Using his crossbow scope he saw a dark-skinned hand on an oak and then a face peering at him, later stepping into a shooting lane. After he lowered his bow the female left downhill where a loud pop and crashing was heard, and a healthy snapped tree was photographed the next morning.

She repeatedly saw a very tall dark furry figure standing at the woods edge watching her, with glowing reddish eyes. She fled to the house in fear, and afterward flattened leaves and a broken branch out of adult reach were found at the spot.

The witness and a friend were sitting on a truck tailgate at night when they heard a disturbance in a crab apple tree. They approached and watched a large pale bipedal animal leave the tree and cross the highway with a swishing foot sound before disappearing. They searched with family that night without result, but the next day found scuffed tracks, broken branches, and fallen apples.

The witness's family of four stayed late at a remote Howard's Creek campsite and walked along the loop road on a bright Sunday afternoon. About 60 to 75 feet ahead, a very large dark-brown furry biped emerged from brush on one side, glanced toward them, then crossed quickly into brush on the other side. Frightened, the family returned to camp, where they noted deep scratches high on a tree trunk that they associated with the animal.
