The witness was in bed around 2 a.m. when a powerful stench prompted a look out the bedroom window. A partially cut tree about 100 feet away began to topple, and a camera flash revealed a large brown hunched figure about ten feet from the house, possibly with a second figure near the woodline. The figures left into the woods, and the next day the witness found the tree down with the saw bar displaced and many tracks and cracked walnuts nearby.

Two companions were driving at night in a doorless vehicle when they made a wrong turn onto a dead-end road. As they turned around, the passenger alerted the driver to eyeshine behind a large tree caught in the headlights. The driver then saw large eyes about six feet off the ground and a large brown shape behind the tree. Both were frightened and did not get a prolonged look.

Two boys were gigging for fish in a shallow river at night when they heard splashing from objects thrown into the water. They shone flashlights across the river and saw an upright human-like creature bring down a dead tree into the river and move in the water. The boys fled to their cabin, and a tree not present the day before was seen in the river the next morning.

The witness was hiking with a relative in a thickly forested mountain area and photographed the upstream view of a small creek. That night while reviewing the photos, the witness noticed a large black figure apparently sitting near the creek bank about 45-50 feet away that had not been noticed at the time. A return visit with a relative found nothing at the spot, but freshly broken branches nearby, and comparison photos were taken with a person sitting in the same place for scale.

A couple at their rural wooded home heard loud long guttural man-like yells almost nightly for several weeks in March 2012, usually around dusk. On March 31 the sounds seemed very close past the fence and suggested two individuals yelling, and on another night a growl from the same area frightened livestock. Late at night the witness took the dog into the backyard overlooking a river and heard grunt-like vocalizations from the opposite bank. From the deck the witness heard something large moving through brush and keeping pace with them, then heard a loud crack, a large splash, wading steps, and a rock thrown across the river. The witness heard water dripping and shaking off fur and a strange snort before the animal moved away through underbrush. The next morning a previously intact rotten stump across the river was found split with half lying at the river's edge.

At dusk in 2012 the witness was sitting alone in a tree stand during archery season. He heard a loud scream from a nearby swamp, then heard heavy footsteps circling behind him where he could not see. An object was thrown through the trees over him and a stone struck the tree he was in, after which he yelled toward the sounds and left for his truck.

After shouting and tossing a small stone into the trees, the witness heard a shriek/howl and the stone was thrown back to land at their feet. The witness ran inside, then returned with a flashlight to find twisted vegetation and snapped branches and noted a foul smell.

The witness shot a doe behind the house at dusk and left it overnight to retrieve in the morning. The carcass was gone in the morning and was later found about 120 yards away along a tree line where branches were bent about six feet high. The deer had a broken neck and torn-open chest with most organs missing, unlike coyote damage familiar to the witness. The witness felt watched and eerie, left the kill, and has avoided the area after dark since.
