A family of two adults and four children were walking on a trail while camping when they noticed a line of very large footprints. The prints were described as deeply impressed into soil in a straight heel-to-toe line with a long stride. No photos, formal measurements, or casts were made because they were unsure how to handle the situation.

He walked about 10 yards from the fire to investigate and saw a small dark shape dash past, then noticed a tall bipedal figure staring at him from about nine feet away for about 10 seconds before it turned and walked away silently. He ran back to the cabin and stayed inside for the night.

Late at night the witness was at home when dogs began barking loudly. The witness looked out a living room window and saw a large dark figure running down the gravel driveway away from the house. The figure appeared as a solid dark shadow larger than a person, visible under a security light. A companion also believed they saw what was pointed out.

The witness was hunting on public land in northeast Iowa just before dark when they found large single-file tracks in snow crossing an alfalfa field. The stride was far longer than the witness felt a human could manage in that snow depth, and the prints were later described as men's size 13-14 without visible toes. The witness, then in eighth grade, was delivering papers before dawn during a bitterly cold snowy week. He felt watched, found very large barefoot-like tracks in snow that conformed to a curb, followed them through a park across a creek and fence toward sewage ponds, found the same trail backtracked the next morning, then days later heard an extremely loud scream from nearby bushes that terrified him.

As a paperboy delivering newspapers in Eldridge in early February 1981, the witness found very large human-like footprints in snow crossing the town from northeast to southwest, and found a second set retracing the route in reverse the next morning. Several days later, while delivering Sunday papers with his father driving, the witness tossed a paper against a door and immediately heard a loud scream from beside the house that he attributed to the same creature. The witness never saw the animal itself.

On a January 1976 afternoon the witness walked alone to a country club hill to sled. At the top he found bare footprints in snow with clear toe and heel outlines, sunk deep and spaced about three of his strides apart, running north to south into trees. He felt uneasy, sledded once, felt scared and as if watched while leaving, and headed home.

On a moonlit night in summer 1970, the witness was on a road by a cornfield with a companion when a large brownish creature was heard and then seen running across the road, down a ditch, over a fence and into the cornfield. The creature had a foul smell. The witness returned the next day and found large smudged footprints in the road and cornfield.
