Sasquatch sighting in Louisiana (1981)
The witness, then 18, had gone fishing at dawn near a lake and heard an unusually deep groan-growl from across the road. After driving away to calm down, he returned, parked, armed himself with a large-caliber pistol, and followed disturbed dew trails into oak woods. About six feet from an oak tree a tall hair-covered biped stepped out, exchanged prolonged looks, then appeared to work itself into an agitated vocalizing state while urinating. The witness fired at close range into its chest, saw heavy bleeding from the wound and mouth, and watched it clutch its chest, stand, and disappear over a bluff toward the water.

A man went to a remote target-shooting pit after his friend did not return from sighting in a rifle. He found blood, a hat, a bent rifle and huge barefoot footprints on a hilltop and around the truck. The friend's body was folded under the dashboard inside the truck. Police were called and the death was reported as a bear attack.

In August 1981 the witness rode a motorcycle up forest roads to a high peak near the North Fork. Near the treeline he uncovered a large old barefoot-like track and later from the summit saw a head-and-shoulders shadow watching from the dark treeline. The shape was gone when he looked back after viewing the panorama, and he rode quickly back down the mountain.

The witness, then a child sleeping in a cabin, claims to have been awakened around 2 a.m. by a deep sneeze-like sound and a strong foul odor. A very large monkey-like head peered into the bedroom window, blocking the light, with huge eyes, a large flat nose, little facial hair and deep nasal breathing. The witness whimpered, the mother entered and the figure left; in the morning plowed vegetation and footprints were reportedly seen.

In spring 1981 the witness was camping with family and hiking off-trail when the group found a large footprint on the edge of a creek. Water was running over the print, suggesting it was fresh. The find was kept private for years until reported, and an investigator later documented its size.

The witness, then in eighth grade, was delivering papers before dawn during a bitterly cold snowy week. He felt watched, found very large barefoot-like tracks in snow that conformed to a curb, followed them through a park across a creek and fence toward sewage ponds, found the same trail backtracked the next morning, then days later heard an extremely loud scream from nearby bushes that terrified him.

As a paperboy delivering newspapers in Eldridge in early February 1981, the witness found very large human-like footprints in snow crossing the town from northeast to southwest, and found a second set retracing the route in reverse the next morning. Several days later, while delivering Sunday papers with his father driving, the witness tossed a paper against a door and immediately heard a loud scream from beside the house that he attributed to the same creature. The witness never saw the animal itself.

Two people walking with a dog heard something moving through the woods away from them and followed the sound to a creek. On a sandbar in the middle of the creek they found a single large, fresh human-like barefoot print and saw no other prints on the higher far bank. They inferred a very long stride and returned up the road without seeing the source.

While hunting deer in a remote forested mountain area, the witness found a large human-like five-toed footprint frozen in mud beneath a large tree after noticing an unclear print nearby. The clear print was described as longer and wider than the witness's size 10 boot, approximately three inches larger. The discovery occurred in daylight with old snow and frozen ground.

When the witness was 11, a very tall hair-covered creature stood outside the house window for a few minutes late at night before walking around the side of the house. The next day the witness and a sibling found large footprints around the house and estimated the creature's height from the window measurement. Rain later washed the prints away after they were followed into the woods.

About two and a half hours after the porch sighting, the mother drove home on the muddy road and saw a large upright figure standing by the road in her headlights. She fled at speed to the house shouting she had seen something huge. The next day food left on the porch was emptied without moving the can, with large footprints below the porch that were later cast.

While living on a rural property one winter, the witness with his brother and a friend found a bobcat torn in half with no chew marks. Days later the witness and his brother found huge human-like footprints in snow, one with a deformed big toe, spaced about six feet apart and sinking deep. The tracks stepped over a fence and went straight up a steep hillside where the boys could barely climb.

As a nine-year-old in 1981, the witness woke around 1 a.m. and watched a very tall hair-covered figure stand in a lit street intersection for minutes before leaving in a few steps. His mother dismissed it as a dream, but next morning he found bare footprint tracks with toe marks in snow where it had walked.

The witness and his friend camped and fished over a weekend at a remote creek below a ridge road. They experienced pebbles and rocks thrown, pacing, huffing, wood knocks, a disturbed fire pit and scattered poles. A large creature then came down the ridge into the creek, growled at them from about 20 yards, and left. A DNR officer later found prints, cast them, and called them bear tracks.

While fishing about forty yards apart on a riverbank, the witness and a relative felt watched and noticed movement in brush at the base of a cliff. The pair fled down a trail toward camp, and the witness looked back to see a large hair-covered arm and hand reaching out of the brush right behind him before it disappeared. The next day they returned and found indistinct tracks in soft dirt at the bottom of the cliff face.

Near Christmas 1980 the witness was riding a snowmobile with a relative on a forest trail at night when they got stuck. Both smelled a strong rotten-meat odor and then the witness saw a fur-covered bipedal figure about six feet tall run across the trail into the bush. The witness found a large bare footprint where it crossed and bipedal steps through deep powder snow. A parent who arrived later saw the remaining marks and told the witness the figure was a sasquatch.

While hunting deer alone in a frozen swamp area, the witness found large bare human-like footprints in light snow on an isolated patch of high ground and followed them briefly before returning to camp. Later the same day the witness brought a hunting companion back to the spot and the companion also viewed the tracks. Warm weather melted the snow by the next day and the location could not be relocated.

The witness was home watching a baseball game when a strange noise from the back porch prompted investigation with a pistol. The witness reported seeing a large dark upright shadow-like figure running toward the woods, firing shots, then seeing it again near an old stable and firing again without hitting it. Afterwards the witness found a porch freezer broken into with frozen food scattered, plus white hairs and ground impressions.
