The witness, a wildlife biologist, was deer hunting at dawn on his forested property when a jet-black canid-like animal stalked toward him. He fired a .45 at its head with no apparent effect, then yelled, after which it rose bipedally to about seven feet with a broad chest and long thin arms. He fired twice more into its chest, it sank back to all fours and retreated, leaving only uncastable imprints and no blood or bullets found later.
Family driving a rural two-track have a late day encounter north of Higgins Lake
The witness and two daughters were driving a pickup on a forest two-track in the evening to gather rocks for a fire pit. A tall black-haired biped ran across the trail in front of the vehicle in a forward-leaning run with arms hanging low, followed about 15 feet behind by a large gray wolf. Both continued up the hill on the far side and disappeared, and a next-day search found no tracks because of overnight heavy rain.

After other family members left the cabin for the evening, a father and his adult son stayed to clean the cabin exterior when stones began landing around them. They retreated inside as stones continued to strike the cabin on multiple sides. The daughter ran inside saying she had seen a tall brown biped that walked, looked at her, then dropped to all fours and ran off. Late at night at home, the witness and three companions heard banging on the deck and went outside to investigate. In moonlight they saw a large shape kneeling on the lawn that stood and ran across the lawn, through a puddle, and up a driveway. The witness was on an early spring morning walk along a two-track through swampy woods when she heard movement and saw a large white figure moving quickly away about 50 yards away through dense undergrowth. She followed it visually for some distance and noted its rapid movement and swinging arms. The next day she returned to the same area and found very large footprints with only three toes visible and widely spaced, which she interpreted as confirming the figure was not a human.

Four teenagers walking north from a family hunting camp stopped on a steep two-track when they saw a tall, broad, dark figure standing in the middle of the road at the hilltop staring at them. After watching for about one to two minutes, they turned and ran back to camp without seeing what it did. Poorly defined pushed-in depressions were later noticed in soft gravel and sand in the general area.

As a nine-year-old in 1981, the witness woke around 1 a.m. and watched a very tall hair-covered figure stand in a lit street intersection for minutes before leaving in a few steps. His mother dismissed it as a dream, but next morning he found bare footprint tracks with toe marks in snow where it had walked.

The witness and an older sister rode bikes along a road beside a dense wooded lot. They stopped after noticing a dark stump-like shape in the middle of the lot and, when wind moved long hair, realized it was a large hairy figure sitting cross-legged apparently asleep. They described a flat apelike face and long limbs and fled quickly to their house where they told a parent. They said they avoided the road and thicket afterward.

As a 12-year-old walking home from the school bus with five other children, the witness noticed movement from a deep ditch beside a gravel road. A hair-covered figure rose from the ditch, crossed the road on two feet, vaulted a pony fence with one hand, and sprinted across an open field much faster than ponies. The figure was estimated at about six feet tall and its face was not seen.
