Man Has Face to Face Encounter Outside of Willits
The witness was driving north on Highway 101 north of Willits in daylight when a large hair-covered biped entered the roadway and ran across the lanes in front of the car. The witness braked and then stopped as the animal paused at the road edge about 25 feet away, turned its upper body and stared for about five seconds. The animal then bounded up a steep embankment on all fours and left.

The witness was returning down the canyon after fishing and exploring when a tall, dark, muscular creature crossed the road toward a meadow. It was watched for a few strides with a bent, arm-swinging gait, then seen crossing back at a slower pace as if avoiding an oncoming truck and people in the meadow. The witness believed they were the only observer and later found large tracks on a return visit.

The witness was driving slowly along a ridge-line dirt road during a boundary survey at midday when a black figure was spotted among trees. Initially mistaken for a stump and then a bear, the figure was judged too thin and tall to be a bear. As the vehicle closed to close range, the figure sprinted across the road on two legs and disappeared into trees.

After shining a flashlight in that direction, the witness saw two hairy bipedal figures cross a fence and then ran inside. A family staying at a remote pack station heard a high-pitched whooping call for many minutes that seemed to approach and then pass toward a wilderness trail. The daughter went to the access road to meet the caller and saw a large, hair-covered, unclothed being with a long beard, long arms and a big mouth walking quickly past. She said it did not see her and was not vocalizing when seen. The next morning the family found a few possible wide-toed prints in the dust at the spot she indicated.

A young woman riding a horse home through a dry riverbed in the late afternoon encountered a hairy biped near trees. Her horse refused to go forward, and she saw the creature standing and walking parallel about 75 to 100 yards away. They looked at each other for just under a minute before it turned and left into dense brush walking then crouching.

A homeowner had shot a deer and hung it in a tree behind the house. That night while going to let dogs out, he heard an unfamiliar scream and saw a large ape-like creature in the yard. The creature seized the deer and fled into the forest, tearing out a stretch of barbed-wire fence and leaving hair and tracks. A friend visiting the next day was shown where it stood and ran, including the tracks and hair.

Across the river in bright moonlight the witness saw a large bipedal creature shaking a big pine tree, then running in an arc into the woods. The next morning the witness and a companion found large four-toed tracks in the sand where the creature had run.

About two and a half hours after the porch sighting, the mother drove home on the muddy road and saw a large upright figure standing by the road in her headlights. She fled at speed to the house shouting she had seen something huge. The next day food left on the porch was emptied without moving the can, with large footprints below the porch that were later cast.

Minutes later the witness watched a figure near a dumpster walk toward the dorm and peer in through a window from about 12 feet away for 20 to 30 seconds before disappearing. The next morning a discarded box was found on the ground with large footprints nearby.
