Late at night the witness's family was at home when a dog outside sounded distressed. A relative went out, saw a large shadow by the shed, retrieved a firearm, then saw something flee down the driveway and fired, after which a loud growl-howl was heard followed by silence. The next morning the family found unfamiliar footprints and believed the visitor had leapt across a nearby canal.

Four teenagers walking north from a family hunting camp stopped on a steep two-track when they saw a tall, broad, dark figure standing in the middle of the road at the hilltop staring at them. Poorly defined pushed-in depressions were later noticed in soft gravel and sand in the general area.

In August 1981 the witness rode a motorcycle up forest roads to a high peak near the North Fork. Near the treeline he uncovered a large old barefoot-like track and later from the summit saw a head-and-shoulders shadow watching from the dark treeline. The shape was gone when he looked back after viewing the panorama, and he rode quickly back down the mountain.

The witness was home watching a baseball game when a strange noise from the back porch prompted investigation with a pistol. The witness reported seeing a large dark upright shadow-like figure running toward the woods, firing shots, then seeing it again near an old stable and firing again without hitting it. Afterwards the witness found a porch freezer broken into with frozen food scattered, plus white hairs and ground impressions.

In May 1980 [name withheld] and a friend skied at night up the closed Highway 242 toward Middle Sister to claim the season's first summit entry. They were followed for hours by something screaming, breathing heavily, breaking branches and circling on two legs, forcing them to shelter in a road grader. After it left they found large human-like tracks with toes crossing a creek and in the woods, then abandoned the climb and skied out.

The dog ran ahead then retreated in distress, while the figure paused, crouched, approached closer, then sprinted to cover. After the brother woke and made a noise, the figure turned, showing a flat-faced profile and hunched posture, then walked away and was seen from the back door as covered in dark hair. The figure paused when they struck the glass, then continued leaving. A day later they found tracks behind the house leading toward the houses.

A tall shape then appeared at the side window, and they remained huddled inside without sleep until morning. The witness set out alone on a multi-day hike through swamp trail and camped overnight in a hammock. During the night the camp was surrounded by unseen figures making vocalizations, knocks and walking sounds, and a food bag was knocked down. The next day the witness found large tracks, then encountered large dark hairy figures on and near the trail, one of which followed closely. The witness fled in panic to a highway rest stop and required medical care, reporting lasting distress and nightmares.

The witness and a companion camped separately in the North Georgia mountains after spilling bacon grease near a creek. At night the companion reported heavy footsteps, a large outline at the treeline, and large hairy bodies passing the tent while the tent was shaken violently. In the morning they found concentrated large footprints at the grease spill and the witness's own camp trashed.

After the house impacts the guest began seeing dark shadows in the thick woods behind his house and heard heavy stomping back and forth. One night he saw three side-by-side shapes, two about six to seven feet and one much larger. He also found a 14-inch track with a huge big toe and a 17-inch wet dew footprint by his deck.

A research group camped at a remote river location and stayed up late around a fire to invite attention. On about the fifth night whistling calls, heavy movement through brush, and a loud branch break approached camp. The witness watched through a night-vision monocular as a large silhouette crossed a road with a smooth gliding gait, and the group later found disturbed ground and footprints that were tracked for about a mile.
