The witness was family camping in the Big Cypress area when she noticed a tall black shape in the woods that vanished minutes later. Around 4 a.m. she awoke to a distant wailing sound with heavy breathing that approached the campsite, passed by the tents and left down a trail, waking several companions who also heard it. In the morning the group followed the direction of travel and found large wide footprints with a four-toe appearance in a sandy trail that had not been there the day before.

The figure moved downhill on two legs with long strides and a large upper body, which the driver felt differed from a bear. The driver stopped where the figure left the road and noticed smeared tracks in mud and snow leading downhill but did not follow them. The driver later said he believed the figure was likely a bigfoot.

Late one summer evening in 1998, a couple lying in bed in their trailer heard repeated loud screams and their dogs became highly agitated. The husband went outside with a flashlight and saw red-orange eyeshine well above normal human face height, then a tall upright shadow running toward the southwest. No further screams occurred and the dogs stayed agitated for 10-15 minutes. The couple decided not to call emergency services.

After the boar fled, an upright figure appeared at the tree line, stood over the boar's spot, and was then illuminated by high beams. The figure blocked the light, showed glowing eyes, grunted, crossed the road in three strides, grabbed a sapling and disappeared uphill, leaving a strong odor.

The responding deputy initially suspected neighbors, moonshiners or a grow operation, but later found a large hand-like dent in the house and an 18-inch footprint in the creek that he cast. The cast was later reported to show dermal ridges and to be considered authentic east of the Mississippi.

The witness returned the next day to recover gear, found extensive large tracks, followed fresh tracks, and encountered one individual at close range.

As the car closed the distance, the figure stepped onto the grass and pushed a fir bough from its face, showing a gorilla-like ear. The witness braked and turned toward the trees but the car stalled and the adult passenger became upset, so the witness left and returned the next day to look for sign.
