Bowhunter finds twisted trees, tracks, scat, & unusual sounds
The witness was bow-hunting in coastal second-growth forest on the morning of 9/1/01. He heard whooping and scream-like vocalizations followed by a large tree falling, plus heavy footsteps, and later found large ground impressions, broken limbs and tops, and animal hair high on a tree. An investigator later reviewed photos of broken and twisted trees and received frozen scat and hair samples for examination.
16 year old has strange experience walking home
A teenager was walking a short distance between two houses on family property around midnight. He heard a loud thump nearby followed by sounds he interpreted as bipedal footsteps moving toward him. He ran to his house, locked the door, and stayed inside to calm down. He later recalled a musky smell in the area at the time.
Witness heard underbrush snapping and small trees crashing to the ground
The witness was alone at a lakeside camp at night when a loud road-blasting shot triggered a rockslide. Right afterward the witness heard a large animal crashing through brush and then prolonged howling and screaming from across the lake for about half an hour. Friends arrived later and heard nothing further that night.
Scream in Oregon (1980)
In May 1980 [name withheld] and a friend skied at night up the closed Highway 242 toward Middle Sister to claim the season's first summit entry. They were followed for hours by something screaming, breathing heavily, breaking branches and circling on two legs, forcing them to shelter in a road grader. After it left they found large human-like tracks with toes crossing a creek and in the woods, then abandoned the climb and skied out.
A camper reports a foul odor and unusual sounds at 2:30 am, then finds numerous tracks at day break
The witness was sleeping at a sandy riverside camp when dogs barked then became frightened and quiet. With eyes kept shut, the witness heard something walking in the water, noticed a strong urine-like odor, and felt something brush their hair during an encounter lasting several minutes. At daybreak, very large foot-like indentations were found in dry and wet sand around the sleeping area, campfire and tent.

The witness describes three years of repeated encounters after his family moved onto a wooded hillside property. Four ape-like animals repeatedly approached the trailers, peered in windows, vocalized at night, left tracks, damaged structures, and killed livestock. The father shot the largest animal in the shoulder near the pump house, after which the animals moved faster and more cautiously but continued the activity. Forestry and law-enforcement visitors reportedly told the father to stop shooting, and timber workers and well drillers also encountered the animals.
Tracks in Oregon
Earlier in the same season the group was camped overnight in a basin while elk hunting. Something circled the camp at night and frightened guard dogs that normally showed no fear. The next day the men followed large barefoot tracks with very long strides and a damaged toe from behind the camp to a canyon.
Footsteps near Sweet Home, Oregon
The witness was scouting remote mountain roads for fishing access when he found a newly placed stacked rock pile blocking the road. After stopping to inspect it, he heard something charge down the steep slope toward him and stop when he drew his pistol, then parallel him back to his vehicle unseen. He returned later with a hunting partner and heard coordinated whoops from multiple positions, and a few days later with a larger group found extensive tree damage, possible structures, and three sizes of bare human-like tracks.
