The witness was searching for arrowheads with companions when alerted to an unusual track near a small cedar tree. The witness and spouse were hiking uphill in heavy snow when they found about a dozen very fresh, large barefoot-like tracks crossing the slope. As they examined the tracks, nearby foliage shook as if an animal was present, and they felt sudden fear and decided to leave. While descending about 300 yards, small pebbles were repeatedly tossed at them from behind, striking the witness in the back without injury until they began to run.

That night the group heard loud piercing screams in the forest and smelled a strange skunk- and sweat-like odor, and the witness sounded a personal alarm which seemed to drive something away. The witness arrived early to hike a park nature trail after overnight rain and found elk tracks on the muddy path. On top of the elk tracks was a set of much larger barefoot human-like prints continuing in the same direction for dozens of feet. The witness was camping alone in a tall tent when something large approached at night. A tall shadow with broad shoulders was cast on the tent by an outside lantern. The visitor opened food containers, ate bread, growled, overturned a cooler and carried off meat before leaving toward the river where vocalizations were heard. Large footprints and teeth marks were found the following morning.

A young woman riding a horse home through a dry riverbed in the late afternoon encountered a hairy biped near trees. Her horse refused to go forward, and she saw the creature standing and walking parallel about 75 to 100 yards away. On July 16, 1997, a tour guide driving tourists along a road stopped near a burned-out bridge and watched an upright, hair-covered creature for about 15 minutes from 70 to 80 yards away. The guide moved the bus forward and backward to give passengers views and tried to get a passenger with a telephoto lens to exit for photos, but no one would leave. The guide then drove away and could not relocate the creature on a later return.

While trying to sleep the witness heard movement in the treeline followed by a grunt and a loud unfamiliar scream estimated 50 to 100 yards away. The witness stopped after noticing large footprints on the side of a road and found over 20 tracks that entered the woods, crossed the road, and continued into the woods. The tracks had five toes, were larger than the witness's size-12 boot, and sank deeper than the witness's boot print. Deer tracks and deer hair were also present around the tracks. The witness left to get a camera and returned to take five Polaroid photos of the tracks.
