A young couple entered an abandoned mine and came upon a large hairy humanoid sitting very close with a strong decay odor. They fled quickly and contacted a group. Investigators returning two days later found a constructed oval bed and signs it had been eating foliage gathered from miles away.

Couple has daytime sighting in the Big Creek Wilderness Area
Two people coasting downhill on a motor scooter stopped at a clearcut to look at the view on a clear afternoon. They saw a large brown biped rise from the grass about 100 yards away and walk along the treeline, glancing at them before stepping up a bank into the forest. After waiting about 15 minutes they inspected the area and found a matted grass circle and large footprints leading away.
