Gov-connected snake researcher describes daytime encounter in Pine Barrens swamps
The witness and a companion hiked into a remote swamp-surrounded ridge to survey snake habitat. While the companion stepped away, the witness heard bipedal footsteps and branch snaps from the swamp below and called out with no response. The witness then watched a dark upright figure move between trees for several seconds before it disappeared. Both left the area quickly.
Campers have possible encounter while staying in High Point State Park
Two brothers camped overnight beside a lake in the park. During the night and again after dawn they repeatedly heard a loud aggressive exhale-like sound nearby, along with footsteps and branches breaking as something moved through the forest, followed by scream-like sounds that turned into chatter. In daylight they found a matted vegetation bed, a fresh flattened trail, and footprints in mud where the sounds had come from. The entity itself was never seen.
Late afternoon sighting in the Pine Barrens
The witness and a companion stopped while driving on a dirt trail when the companion saw a tall brown figure cross the road. The witness got out to check and reported seeing a black-faced, ape-like animal with sandy-brown hair peering from brush about 25 feet away. After a few seconds it stood fully upright and ran bipedally into the pines, and the pair later heard bipedal running approaching the car before leaving.

The witness was hiking with companions through woods toward a familiar spring when they noticed a large dome-shaped structure woven from vegetation beside a water-filled fire cut, with a partially consumed deer carcass inside. Shortly after examining the carcass from across the cut, the group heard movement and saw a very tall, muscular, reddish-brown hair-covered being standing in the open about 30 to 40 feet away. The being emitted an extremely loud, escalating scream that the witness felt in the chest, then lunged toward the group. The group fled back along the trail without looking back until reaching near home, and did not report the event to family at the time.
