Backpackers hear growls, knocking and observe two large, hairy bipeds at Surprise Lake
The witness and a companion were camped at Surprise Lake at dusk when they heard patterned knocks and rock-on-tree sounds. After the witness threw a rock against a tree and heard a similar sound returned, they saw a large brownish-red animal squatted and swaying behind a tree upslope. They attempted blurry photos while knocks were heard from behind the camp and from the animal's direction before leaving at first light.

The witness was bow-hunting elk and reported hearing knocks timed to his steps near a clearing in the afternoon. He then watched through binoculars as a large hair-covered figure struck a log against a dead tree. As he left, knocks continued and he heard a log thrown nearby, later noticing a rancid black puddle on the trail.
Late night sighting by backpacker near Crater Lake
During a multi-day backpacking trip the witness left his tent at night and saw large green-glowing eyes about 70 feet away on the trail. The figure appeared over eight feet tall, stood on two legs, and had a very large head. After staring for about 30 seconds and being lit by a headlamp, it blinked, turned and walked out of sight.

While driving on a forest road in the early morning to find a campsite, the witness and a relative noticed an orange glow in a roadside stand of trees. As they drove past, the witness saw a tall erect human-like figure standing behind a large rock close to the road, turning its head and upper body to watch the truck. They did not stop, continued to a lake to wait for daylight, then returned in the morning to examine the site and take photos.
