Four companions camping overnight found a large fresh footprint in mud during the afternoon. Late at night they heard prolonged bark-like screams from two directions, then encountered a tall hairy figure at close range with a flashlight. The figure left up a steep bank, and the group retreated to their car while vocalizations followed them and displaced tires blocked the road.

As they passed within feet in a car with a sunroof, the witness looked up to see red eyes looking down into the car. Three college students walked back to their dorms along railway tracks at night after buying snacks. Ahead of them a dark shape crossed the tracks and briefly blocked a distant streetlight. A short distance later they smelled a strong wet-dog odor and the reporter saw a tall creature at close range with shining eyes. The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.

Late one spring night in 1979, the witness and a sibling were in bed in a downstairs bedroom when they saw a tall hairy figure looking in the window and then at the back door apparently trying to get inside. Their mother also saw the figure at the back door and called out for help before contacting the sheriff. Deputies searched the surrounding woods but reportedly found only a burned area of ground from apparent vomit and a small knocked-down tree.

Four people were coon hunting with hounds on a full-moon night in late fall and were walking out toward the truck when the dogs bolted. The witness, left alone in standing corn, heard a loud scream approaching and was knocked down by a bent-over thing carrying a deer on its shoulder, which dropped the deer and fled. The group found the deer alive but severely injured with a twisted hind leg and broken antlers; a responding game warden shot it and released it to them, and dressing showed a dislocated hip, broken backbone and badly bruised meat.

After partying at a private lake, the guest drove out late and struck a two-foot hairy juvenile that ran into his car's headlight. He heard a thump, slowed, then heard a loud roar from the woods and fled. While circling back behind the lake he heard growling and movement following through the woods and sped away.
