The headlights illuminated a tall, greyish hairy figure standing on two legs and leaning on a wire fence beside a cornfield. After a few seconds the figure turned and ran on two legs into the corn toward nearby woods.

A later search of the area found only disturbed grass and no footprints.

The witness stopped, noting no other vehicles or people around, and heard it crashing through brush. The next morning the witness found a path of broken brush and trampled grass where it had crossed but no tracks.

The witness was horseback riding with friends and stopped for lunch when crashing was heard in the brush. The witness rode toward the noise to look for elk and watched a small hair-covered creature trying to drink from a pool about 30 feet away. The horse became agitated so the witness left to tell friends, who returned and heard movement and saw ferns moving as something left toward the larger creek. The witness believed the crashing was made by a larger animal accompanying the young creature.

The witness took a light and walked toward the woods without it on, smelling a strong foul odor and hearing branches breaking. When the flashlight was turned on, the witness briefly saw a tall, large, hairy bipedal animal fleeing through the woods. Broken branches and ground disturbance were found the next day.

Three people were fishing at night at a pool on a river near a bridge when they saw a frightened coyote run past and heard splashes. A large dark figure standing waist-deep in the river about 40 yards away then threw boulders toward them, with the closest landing a few yards away and splashing water on them. The group shouted, reeled in their lines, and fled through trees and a field to their car. They returned the next day and judged the water depth and boulders inconsistent with a person.

Late at night they heard prolonged bark-like screams from two directions, then encountered a tall hairy figure at close range with a flashlight. The witness was working an overnight security shift at a strip mine when he heard movement in brush behind the trailer. Shining a flashlight, he saw a large bipedal animal squatting behind a thicket that covered its face with huge hands before running away. About half an hour later he heard a chilling scream from inside the locked trailer, and he left the mountain for good that night.

Later, from inside their tent, both saw a very large shadow pass between the campfire and the tent. The next morning they found no tracks but noticed a large log newly present near their vehicle by the spring.

After waiting inside, they saw a large grey ape-like creature squatting in the field watching them, then retreated again. Overnight they heard commotion, and next morning found shredded torches, a belt torn with teeth marks, and dents in a parked car.

After a multi-day wait, a recovery team forced open the craft, found three seats and no conventional controls, and moved it to an underground facility.

The witness, then about 11, went with his father to a surveyor's home in deep East Texas and followed the surveyor's young son down a thin trail behind the house to a deadfall. The son gave whooping calls, after which the witness heard approaching footsteps, heavy breathing like a horse, a deep word-like vocalization and a powerful percussive sound, then breaking limbs. The witness fled back to the house as a tall dark figure ran alongside through the brush, stopping when he screamed for his father.

The witness, then a child sleeping in a cabin, claims to have been awakened around 2 a.m. by a deep sneeze-like sound and a strong foul odor. A very large monkey-like head peered into the bedroom window, blocking the light, with huge eyes, a large flat nose, little facial hair and deep nasal breathing. The witness whimpered, the mother entered and the figure left; in the morning plowed vegetation and footprints were reportedly seen.

Three college students walked back to their dorms along railway tracks at night after buying snacks. Ahead of them a dark shape crossed the tracks and briefly blocked a distant streetlight. A short distance later they smelled a strong wet-dog odor and the reporter saw a tall creature at close range with shining eyes. The group fled to their dorm, later drove back for another look without approaching closely, and the reporter retrieved dropped groceries the next day.

At a youth camp at night, the witness was inside a dorm getting ready for bed when campers in another dorm shouted about someone outside. Minutes later the witness watched a figure near a dumpster walk toward the dorm and peer in through a window from about 12 feet away for 20 to 30 seconds before disappearing. The next morning a discarded box was found on the ground with large footprints nearby.

In early-morning darkness and light rain the witness was driving a paper route near Arago when a large reddish-brown long-haired animal crossed the road and scaled a steep grassy roadcut within about 15 feet of the truck. The animal moved very fast with rear legs set wide apart and spine not flexing like a bear, using its front limbs hand-over-hand, showing broad shoulders, a flat-profile face and a part in the wet hair along its spine. It reached the top in seconds and went out of sight.
