A driver and a relative reported seeing a tall, dark-haired bipedal figure cross a two-lane road in daylight while driving. The figure reportedly paused in their lane to look at their vehicle before continuing into grass and forest. The witnesses reported a strong sulfur-like odor as they passed and later provided additional size and appearance details during a phone interview.
Gold dredgers have afternoon encounter in Cherokee National Forest
Two men had finished dredging for gold and were talking when they noticed a large dark creature about 100 feet away partly behind a dead tree and tailings pile. The creature reached up and snapped off a tree limb, looked at them for 10 to 20 seconds while a strong smell was present, then turned and walked into the woods. They stayed in the area for two more weeks with no further sightings but reported smelling it several times.

The witness was reading late at home while dogs barked outside in the rain. A large hairy figure passed the back door making whistling and other sounds, and the porch light went out. The witness opened the door to a strong odor and saw the figure standing about 30 feet away before it left toward the woods amid crashing sounds and a distant answering whistle.

In 1986 the witness stopped in a car near a church at dusk to adjust the radio when dirt and gravel struck the hood. The witness then noticed a tall hair-covered figure standing on the roadside berm and drove slowly past it at close range before speeding home. The witness showed dirt still on the hood to a relative that evening and found scooped-out chunks missing from the berm the next day.
