The witness was camping overnight with friends in the Mount Baker National Forest near the river. Between 2 and 3 a.m. she heard movement approach her tent and brush against it, while a companion in a truck reportedly felt a nudge and saw a fleeting shadow. The next morning the witness found multiple large footprints around her tent, the trail and vehicles and made a plaster cast of the clearest one. While waiting alone in camp later that day she heard persistent clicking from the woods and felt watched.

After shining a flashlight in that direction, the witness saw two hairy bipedal figures cross a fence and then ran inside. The next morning her daughter visited, heard the account, and found a large flat human-like footprint in mud outside the window, which she measured and photographed, plus reddish hair strands on a nearby tree.

His nested cook pots were then heard clanging and later found unnested and spread out. After finding a long hair on his backpack Velcro he broke camp and drove to Red Bluff.

They heard something moving toward them and fled to a moonlit clearing where they saw a bipedal creature they first called a bear. The witness fired a shotgun into the air without stopping its approach, then both ran through a creek to a store to call for help. In later years they found broken trees and footprints they attributed to the same creature.

The witness approached and found a crouched hairy animal that then stood upright on two feet and ran into the woods, knocking down trees amid screaming. A large hairy biped then stepped in front of the animals and lurched toward a car, prompting the group to flee inside and call deputies. The biped later stood outside a lit kitchen window for several minutes while occupants held firearms but did not shoot, then left before deputies arrived, leaving a strong odor.
