A group of five hiked an old closed ridge road around midnight under moonlight. After the leader produced knocks, responsive knocking came from timber about 50 feet away where a shadowy figure was seen, and the leader exchanged sounds with it. As the group hiked back to their cars they were flanked with glowing eyes, vocalizations and rustling.

The witness and two companions camped in the Mt Hood National Forest with a barrel of animal entrails intended as bait. Over three days they reported loud screams from a nearby ridge, nighttime wood knocks, heavy steps and snapping twigs, and found their camp table apparently bitten through. They moved the bait pile away from camp, later found most of it missing with a wet sweet dog-like odor at the site.

The witness was sleeping at home with the bedroom window open when he woke abruptly around 12:30 a.m. He then heard very loud wailing, screaming, laughing and whoop-like yells coming from a field several hundred yards away. The writer and spouse live in a rural hollow adjoining forest land. Late one night the spouse heard odd sounds from the porch, and the writer began recording. A loud yelling vocalization continued for an extended period, at times apparently answered from farther away before seeming to approach. Domestic and neighboring dogs reacted fearfully.
