During a day hike the witness left a recorder on the truck windshield to monitor activity around the vehicle. The recorder captured a prolonged grunting sequence accompanied by knocks. The witness later compared the sounds to known animals and primate recordings.

The guest's sister said that in the 1970s she repeatedly heard something bipedal walking behind her house at night. The next morning her son found long reddish-brown hair on a barbed-wire fence where the sounds had been. In later years she has also reported howl-like vocalizations and heavy breathing from the woods and once made a phone recording.

While at camp one night the witness had a recorder placed three-quarters of a mile away. During audio review the witness heard his own distinct laugh on the distant recorder, though the sound could not have traveled that far normally. He interprets it as possible mimicking.

After previously recording a deep backup-alarm-like sound in the early morning, the witness demonstrated the beep sound at camp while a recorder ran on the truck. Something in the woods answered with matching beeps after each demonstration, four times in about 15 minutes. Additional similar sounds were recorded after the group left recorders past midnight.
