In fall 1941 a couple picnicked in the foothills of Mt. Adams and were driving out of a clearing in the afternoon. The woman looked back and saw a tall, black, hair-covered and muscular creature walking quickly across the clearing toward the forest. Her companion slowed the car but did not see it before it disappeared into the forest.
