The witness and his father stopped at a clearcut at night and scanned with flashlights, spotting three sets of eyeshine at different heights. The largest figure charged uphill while vocalizing, then moved toward them breaking branches before everything went silent while the two smaller figures watched from the treeline. Around midnight the large figure re-emerged, stepped over a log and walked downhill bipedally with the other two following.
Loud vocalizations repeatedly disturb family
The witness, then a child, was sleeping in the family's A-frame when very loud, high-pitched screams from behind the house woke the household. The father fired a handgun from a loft window and later used a spotlight, hearing something move away upslope but never seeing the source. Similar late-night screams recurred several times over the following week, and daytime searches found broken small trees and a rotten-egg smell but no tracks or other samples. The family moved away within a month.

The witness and two companions were talking on a porch in the afternoon when they noticed three brownish figures moving on a nearby foothill for about ten minutes. They walked to the spot after the figures left and found a heap of branches resembling a bed, with some branches torn from trees high off the ground. The witness noted an absence of claw marks or bear prints and questioned how the branches could have been placed without tools.
