The witness was riding as a front-seat passenger in a car of teenagers driving slowly on a country road at night with headlights off. When the driver switched the headlights on, those in the front seat noticed a large hair-covered human-like creature emerging from a deep roadside ditch about 20 feet away. The driver drove away quickly while the witness kept watching the still creature, which had wide eyes and an open mouth, as they passed.
