The witness was riding in a car with two relatives driving back over a mountain pass late at night. They encountered a tall, dark, hairy figure walking on and across the road. After a companion shouted at it from the car, the figure kept walking without changing pace and left the road up into the mountains.

Daylight sighting off Highway 89 in the Wasatch Mountains
During a family picnic in the Wasatch Mountains, a five-year-old playing hide-and-seek ran around a mound and encountered a large hair-covered figure about 30 feet away beside a tree. The two watched each other briefly before the child broke the stare and ran screaming back to the picnic area. Adults suggested a deer or bobcat and found nothing on re-check, but the child saw the figure again in the same spot while the group was leaving.
